There is growing anxiety among commissioners and aides appointed by Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan as the two – year mandate given them inches closer.
Fresh Angle understands that some of the commissioners who have been re-appointed right from the Ibori administration are apprehensive about their unlikely reappointment should Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan dissolves his cabinet sometime in May 2013.
An impeccable source hinted Fresh Angle that fears by some of the governor’s aides heightened recently when they were told at a meeting in Asaba that the governor is not happy with their performance. According to the source, the aides were advised to brace up, particularly in the area of image laundry for the governor who has come under increased criticism as a result of his performance and recent announcement of plan to ban commercial motorcycle operators in major towns in the state.
The fears of the Commissioners, Special Advisers, Special Assistants and other appointees over retaining of their jobs may not be unconnected with a possible accommodation of a few members of the Chief Edwin Clark faction of the PDP should on-going reconciliation efforts between the Ijaw National leader and Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan eventually work out.
There are however indications that the reconciliatory move between Dr. Uduaghan and Chief Clark factions may collapse following insistence by the latter that his loyalists be made local government party secretaries.
