The 2024 NULGE Day celebration in Warri South Local Government Area, held Thursday December 12 at the Warri South Council Main Secretariat in Warri, was a colorful and impactful event, that highlighted the importance of workers’ welfare, unity and appreciation for service in grassroots governance.
In his address, the Chairman of the Delta State Local Government Service Commission, Chief Joseph Otirhue, represented by Mr. Joshua Nduka Benjamin, stressed the importance of prioritizing workers welfare.
He commended the dedication of the local government staff, noting, “Your welfare remains a top priority. A motivated workforce is essential for achieving efficient and sustainable grassroots governance.”
The Chairman of Warri South Local Government Area, Comrade Agbateyiniro Weyinmi Isaac, applauded the Comrade Raymond Emiko led Nigerian Union of Local Government Employees, NULGE and the entire workforce for their commitment and teamwork.

While addressing retirees directly, Comr. Agbateyiniro, assured staff of robust welfare packages and promised them prompt payment of their entitlements.
“We value your years of service and remain committed to ensuring you receive your entitlements without delay.
“This is a testament to our focus on accountability and care for all staff, active or retired,” he said.
The Assistant Chief Information Officer, Warri South Local Government Council, Nkechi Taiye-Awe, reports that the State NULGE President, Comrade Zico Okwudi, commended the Warri South Local Government for the prompt implementation of the new minimum wage, describing it as a significant achievement in staff welfare.
He urged the workforce to remain united and proactive in their contributions to the union’s goals.

“The timely payment of the new minimum wage reflects an administration that truly values its workforce,” he remarked.
The celebration’s highlights included the honouring and send-forth of retirees, recognition of three most punctual staff with cash gift award, celebrating the birthdays of Works department HOD, the NULGE Chairman and the ceremonial cutting of the NULGE Day cake.
