The respected Itsekiri leadership body, The Itsekiri Leaders of Thoughts, ILOT, has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, Samuel Ogbuku and his management team, in their drive to change the narratives in the Niger Delta region, particularly in Itsekiri homeland, with the urgent implementation of some key development projects.
The ILOT in a statement signed by its Chairman and Secretary, Chief Edward Ekpoko and Sir A.S. Mene, respectively, noted: “Some of the key projects are;
“i The widely publicized NDDC’s partnership with Chevron in the construction of the Omadino-Escravos Road, which will open up the entire axis of the oil producing areas for development and ease the burden of doing business within the area. The progress so far is commendable.
“ii. The foreshore protection for Ogheye, Akpakpa and Ajudaibo to mitigate the ravaging ocean surge against Itsekiri coastal communities
“iii. Lightening up of some of our communities through provision of solar lightning
“All these development projects are on a scale and a proportion that has never been witnessed in our area.
“This would not have been possible without the support of Mr. President and the management of NDDC headed by Dr. Samuel Ogbuku.
“Indeed, we believe that NDDC is now moving from transactional activities to an era of transformative initiatives aimed at sustainable regional development.
“We pray that this shift is sustained.”
