The Chairman of Warri South Local Government Area, Comr. Agbateyiniro Weyinmi Isaac, says the sacrifices of veterans as well as the brave men and women of the Armed Forces, who served Nigeria with valour and selflessness, can be honoured when we strive to maintain harmony, unity and work together as a people, irrespective of our tribe, religion and political differences.
The Warri South Council Boss, made the assertion at the Warri South Council Main Secretariat in Warri, Delta State, Wednesday January 15, during the grand finale of the 2025 Armed Forces Remembrance Day/Launching of Emblem.
While stating that Armed Forces Remembrance Day, is not just a ceremony, but testament to our gratitude and solemn remainder of the price paid for our peace and freedom, Comr. Agbateyiniro, noted: “This year 2025, marks another chapter in our collective acknowledgement of the heroes, who laid down their lives in defense of our sovereignty, those who still stand guard and the veterans, who continue to inspire us with their resilience.

Comr. Agbateyiniro, speaking, as others listen with rapt attention
“Their sacrifices are corner stone of our nation’s unity and strength. While we pay tribute to our heroes, we must ask ourselves, what are we doing to sustain the legacy they fought for? Peace and progress are not solely the duties of soldiers, they are collective responsibilities. Let us as a people, strive to maintain harmony and unity in Warri South.
“As we remember them today, let us also remember their families, who bore the weight of absence and loss, often without recognition.
“It is our obligation to ensure that the families of the fallen heroes/heroines, are not forgotten and that our veterans receive the respect and care they deserve.”
