Our Kogi State Correspondent, reports that Prof. Ogbo, gave the warning on Saturday during the matriculation ceremony of 6,549 Students at the Polytechnic campus in Lokoja.

The Professor of Political Science reiterates that the institution have zero tolerance for all forms of social vices, such as cultism, gun-running, examination malpractices, drug abuse, alcoholic addiction, unhealthy social gatherings, cybercrimes, incitement to violence, gangsterism, misuse and destruction of public property, stealing and indecent dressing.

"Let me use this opportunity to further reiterate that the ban on all tribal associations on campus is still in force until further notice. This is in the interest of collectivity and harmonious coexistence on the campus.

According to him "My simple warning is for you to stay away from these vices to avoid running afoul of the law. Any breach will attract appropriate penalty, including outright expulsion and prosecution.

"Ignorance of the law has no place in the Polytechnic and will not be condoned.Let me particularly emphasize on cultism, which is completely forbidden on our campus.

" You are therefore warned to desist from any form of luring cultist related activities. It may interest you to know that, we have specifically put in place all visible and invisible security architectures in strategic places to deal with cultists, their sympathizers and sponsors.

" You are therefore advised to stay free of all cult-related lifestyles. You are also advised to report any move intended to intimidate and lure you into or enlist you into cultism".

On the matriculation ceremony, Prof. Ogbo said, "During the 2023/2024 academic session, we matriculated students from twenty six (26) states of the federation.

" This represents 72.2 percent of states in the fed664rferation.Today, I am pleased to inform you that we have indigenes from thirty two (32) states across the country that are being matriculated.

"What this means is that 88.9 percent of states in the federation are represented in our enrolment for the 2024/2025 academic session. This represents 16.7 percent increase in the spread of the enrollees over the previous years.

"This goes to show that, at Kogi State Polytechnic, we are living true to the appellation of Kogi State as a“confluence of opportunities” and melting pot of all shades of cultures and traditions".

The Rector, however, commended the Governor of Kogi State Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, for his fervent commitment and dedication to the sustainable growth and development of the institution.

" I want to specially appreciate him for the historic fencing of the Itakpe Campus which had remained porous since inception. I equally appreciate him for the installation of CCTC camera on both campuses for security surveillance so as to enhance conducive environment for teaching, learning and research"he added.
