The mysterious birth of a horse-like creature in Benin City, Edo State by a woman in a church has plunged residents of Benin metropolis into dissolution as many are still grappling with the reality of a woman giving birth to horse, while some others opined that such thing could only be possible in a Satan’s world.
The Prophetic Minister of God, Reverend Sylva Wealth in whose church the incident occurred did not give the identity of the woman, but quipped that he cannot confirm whether the creature was a horse or not as he didn’t go near it. “I can’t describe the object. We have seen people vomiting several things during our services but not this type of thing”, he noted.
The woman who allegedly gave birth to the horse-like creature started screaming and bleeding and then the object came out.
Our Benin City Correspondent gathered that the woman whose identity is not known was said to have been married for eleven years without a child.
An eyewitness, Mrs. Egiebor Vero, a nurse in one of the private hospitals in Benin disclosed that, “the woman sold vegetables for over ten years and used the profit she got from the sales to sponsor her ex boy friend to the university”.
But when it was time for her and the boyfriend to formalize the relationship, the boy’s mother allegedly refused and they broke up.
Her ex lover then got married to another person and she also married another man some years later.
Egiebor told Fresh Angle that the General Overseer of the ministry, Rev. Silva, walked up to the woman during the prayer session and asked if she was pregnant, and her answer was in the affirmative. According to Egiebor, the woman told the cleric that sometimes she would feel that she was pregnant and at other times, it would seem as if she was not carrying any pregnancy.
“The pastor told her that she was not carrying an ordinary baby. He said: ‘Do you want to go to a doctor to flush out what you are carrying because what you are carrying is not baby ? The pastor paused and asked her again: “Or do you want it to happen here?” Everybody shouted ‘yes”. She continued, “the evangelist asked four women to donate their wrappers to form a fence round her. He asked the men to move to the back of the auditorium. He told the congregation that the matter was women’s affair”.
Egiebor stated that the overseer of the church poured anointing oil on the woman, sprinkled her with sachet water and directed the congregation to pray fervently. Before long, she said, the woman felt uncomfortable and went into labour. “She held somebody’s leg with the clothes as she pushed harder for the baby to come out. Then, something dropped and she fell. The thing fell, some people called it a goat but it looked like a horse. It has a long neck and the ears were long. It was exactly like a horse, although it was in a baby form,” she explained.
The turn of event, according to her, made the pastor to issue a
warning to the congregation to stay clear from the demonic creature. She maintained that members of the congregation took to their heels as soon as the pastor gave the warning.
Reacting to the development, a Consultant Gynecologist, Dr. Jerry Uwaifo, described the story as blatant lie, adding that the news of the birth of the horse-like creature is a phantom. Uwaifo, who is the Medical Director of Central Hospital, Benin City, maintained that it was not medically possible for a woman to give birth to an animal. He explained that there has always been a genetic basis for giving birth.
According to him, “a woman can give birth to a deformed child but not animal. How come they didn’t bring her to a reputable hospital so that it can be verified? God does not perform a miracle in that way. He will not allow a woman to deliver a horse.”
Uwaifo stated that the medical association could not launch an independent investigation into the bizarre incident unless there was an invitation to do so, adding that it must also be done with the consent of the woman’s husband.
Other doctors who reacted to the story described the incident as unimaginable, claiming there is no scientific basis to establish such an occurrence.
Corroborating the views of Dr. Uwaifo, another Consultant Surgeon, Dr. Emmanuel Enabulele explained that medically, fetuses are formed when the gametes of opposite sexes of same species meet after sexual intercourse, under enabling internal homeostasis or environment, to form a zygote that will eventually develop to a baby.
He stressed that for the above process to take place, a number of factors must be in place, one of such factors is that the copulating sexes must be of the same species.
Enabulele pointed out that they have to be the same specie for the genetic materials that will develop into a baby to match, cross and exchange genes which will be noticed in the baby when eventually delivered. ``That is why a child takes a bit of both parents characteristics. If the gametes are not compatible specie-wise, there will be no fertilization. You cannot use the semen of a horse, for instance, to fertilize the eggs of a human being. They are not compatible, it cannot work. Neither can the semen of a horse or goat, it cannot work” he said.
However, Enabulele argued that witchcraft and sorcery could bring about bizarre things like this.
Enabulele was not the only doctor that held that view as spiritual interpretation could explain what actually happened.
Also reacting, Consultant pediatrician, Dr. (Mrs.) Agnes Showumi said scientifically and medically, the development is impossible, but with spiritual manipulation, things like that could happen in our environment.
According to her, “this is not the first time I am hearing such bizarre stories in our environment. There was a case where a woman was said to have delivered a lizard. But it would be wrong for us to start interpreting developments like this medically. If you point at witchcraft or sorcery, it is more like it, it has nothing to do with science and medicine. It is shocking and a big intrigue, but there is no doubt that spiritual manipulation can produce results like this. My heart goes for the woman, it is a pity,” she said in shock.
The General Overseer of the church, Rev. Silva Wealth said he was also shocked and amazed at what came out of the woman.
He said a revelation came to him during prayer session that there was a woman with an issue and that something was blocking her womb, while noting that as prayers intensified, the woman started screaming and bleeding and then the object came out. But he couldn’t confirm whether the horse was dead or alive because he didn’t go near it. “I can’t describe the object. We have seen people vomiting several things during our service, but not this type of thing. God has been blessing our ministry with prophesies and miracles”.
Meanwhile, elders and leaders of Evboriaria community have launched investigation into the strange delivery, describing it as bizarre.
