The Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, has reportedly awarded shore protection jobs for Itsekiri riverine communities of Ogheye in Warri North Local Government Area and AJA - UDAIBO in Warri South Local Government Area, both in Delta State.
Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress in Warri South Local Government Area, Comrade Tuoyo Ofuyaekpone, who made the disclosure in a statement made available to Fresh Angle International last night, commended the Managing Director of NDDC, Dr. Samuel Ogbuku for the bold step.
According to Ofuyaekpone, work on the projects, will commence before the end of May 2025.
The Warri South APC Chieftain, stated: " THE SHORELINE PROTECTION PROJECT FOR OGHEYE AND AJA-UDAIBO COMMUNITIES IS FINALLY BECOMING A REALITY.

"I would like to extend our sincerest appreciation to the Managing Director of the NDDC, Dr. Samuel Ogbuku, for bringing relief to the people of Ogheye, Dimegum, Eghoroke in Warri North Local Government Council of Delta State, and AJA-UDAIBO in Warri South Local Government Area of Delta State, through the award of an emergency shoreline protection contract for both communities.
"Shoreline protection is a critical project for safeguarding these communities from ocean surges that have continually ravaged them.
"As an Itsekiri indigene, I am delighted that this project is finally coming to fruition. We cannot thank the Managing Director enough for his purpose-driven leadership, which has brought hope to the neglected people of Ogheye, Aja-Udaibo, and the Niger Delta states in general.
"The good news is that the contractor will be on-site before the end of May 2025, and the contract has been awarded to a highly competent construction company with a proven track record of delivering projects excellently.
Dr. Samuel Ogbuku is indeed working, and we are witnessing it.
