Disregard purported ghost Congress coming up this week- Kogi SDP Chairman Oricha urges public

The Chairman, Social Democratic Party, (SDP) in Kogi State Hon. Moses Peter Oricha, has urged the general public, security agencies, including the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC to disregard a purported Congress by some individuals claiming to be members of the party later this week.

Our Kogi State Correspondent, reports that Hon. Oricha who disclosed this in a statement on Monday evening noted that some individuals who he described as ghost members are planning to conduct Congress on behalf of Social Democratic Party in Kogi State on 12th March 2025.

His words "It has just come to my notice that some ghost individuals claiming to be members of Social Democratic Party, (SDP) in Kogi State are planning to organize a state Congress this Wednesday 12 March 2025.

"This is not only laughable but criminal in a modern democratic setting. This set of individuals are not only faceless but they are being sponsored by their pay master just not only for their selfish interest but also to cause chaos in our party which we built from the crash.

" The general public should not take this set of individuals serious with their caricature State Congress which can not stand the test of time because nobody knows them in SDP Kogi State.

" I have written to the Independent National Electoral Commission, in which I copied the Department of State Services, (DSS) the Commissioner of Police including the Independent National Electoral Commission, (INEC) to disregard and stop this purported illegal Congress which will never stand the test of time.

"I am the authentic Chairman of SDP in Kogi State as we won't allow intruders who are vehemently working hard to destroy our party which we have built all this years. This Congress coming this Wednesday is null and void and can not stand".

Oricha recalled that the congress of the present exco under his leadership dated 9th April 2022 still stand in accordance to the SDP constitution.

Explaining further, he said "Any plan to conduct SDP Congress in Kogi State can not hold. We are urging SDP supporters to disregard such purported plan to conduct a State Congress by this group of disgruntled element who are enemies of our party.

"To me, this are all ghost by individuals who are not members of SDP. We are urging INEC and security agencies to be on high alert as far as SDP is concerned, there is no Congress coming up later this week or this year until next year April, 2026 according to our party's constitutions.
