Water poverty alleviation charity, Hope Spring Water, has announced an ambitious plan to complete ten clean water projects in 2025.
Fresh Angle International, can report that the Agege- and UK-based NGO, made the disclosure recently as part of its 10th-anniversary celebrations, marking a decade of transforming lives by providing access to clean water.
Since its inception in 2015, the small but highly effective volunteer-led charity, has completed an average of five water projects each year. In this milestone year, however, Hope Spring is reportedly determined to double its impact, thanks to the support of a new funding partner, Odurinde.com, a training organization that will co-fund some of the upcoming projects.
This increased funding and support reflect a significant boost to the organization’s ability to reach more communities in need.
Speaking about the initiative, Project Manager, Tomi Onigbinde, expressed his excitement at being part of such a significant effort.
“This is the first time I am managing clean water projects of this scale. It’s an incredible feeling knowing that what we are doing will directly change lives. Access to clean water is a basic human right, and for the communities we are working with, it will mean better health, improved sanitation, and a real sense of hope for the future.
“Work is already underway on two borehole projects, one in Osun State and another in Oyo State”, he explained.
Onigbinde shared that the project in Osun State, known as the Balogun project, is particularly close to his heart.
He said: “I first visited the Balogun community about three years ago when they were struggling with water scarcity. Seeing their challenges firsthand was eye-opening. Now, returning with drilling equipment to complete the project feels like a full-circle moment. We’re not just providing water—we’re changing lives.”
The Osun State project is expected to begin in March, while the Oyo State project will follow shortly after.
For many of the communities that Hope Spring serves, access to clean water is life-changing. Women and children often bear the burden of fetching water, walking several miles daily to collect water from unreliable or contaminated sources. This time-consuming task not only affects their health, but also limits their opportunities, children miss out on school, and women have fewer chances to engage in economic activities.
By providing these communities with nearby access to clean water, Hope Spring is not just addressing a health issue, but also promoting education, economic growth, and overall community well-being.
Hope Spring Water, was founded in Herefordshire, England, and has spent the past decade working to provide safe drinking water to underserved communities.
A few years after its launch, it expanded its reach by setting up a Nigerian subsidiary, Hope Spring Nigeria, which has helped thousands of people gain access to clean water. The organization’s work has made a significant impact, particularly in rural areas where people often have to walk long distances to fetch water from unsafe sources.
Much of the funding for these projects comes from Hope Spring Charity eCards, a digital greetings card platform that was created to raise funds exclusively for the NGO’s work. Founder and trustee Temi Odurinde highlighted the role of the eCards platform in keeping the charity’s mission alive
“The success of Hope Spring ecards platform is intricately linked to the success of our water poverty alleviation projects. “.
He observed that the Christmas and mother’s day ecards section of the platform is particularly very popular, thereby helping to drive traffic and funds to the organisation.
Hope Spring has also fostered strong partnerships with local leaders, corporate organizations, and philanthropic bodies, ensuring that their projects align with the specific needs of each community.
This collaborative approach has been instrumental in the organization’s success, as it prioritizes long-term sustainability over short-term solutions. With its 10th anniversary approaching, Hope Spring Water is not just celebrating a decade of impact. It is looking ahead to an even bigger future.
The commitment to completing ten projects in 2025 is a bold statement of intent, and with the backing of generous donors and partners, the organization is confident that it can achieve this goal.
The charity remains dedicated to transparency and accountability, ensuring that every donation directly contributes to improving lives. Hope Spring continues to invite individuals, corporate organizations, and philanthropic bodies to join the cause. Whether through donations, partnerships, or simply spreading awareness, every effort helps bring the world closer to a future where no one has to live without access to clean water.
As the organization embarks on this ambitious new chapter, it remains deeply committed to its core mission: bringing hope and life-changing resources to communities that need them most.
