Delta Poly, Abigborodo should not be allowed to die – Abigborodo leaders beg Oborevwori

Leaders of Abigborodo Community in Warri North Local Government Area, under the auspices of Abigborodo Community Leaders of Thought, have appealed to Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, to ensure that Delta State Polytechnic, Abigborodo, commence the next academic session with other higher institutions in the country, saying the institution, should not be allowed to die.

In the appeal, which was contained in a letter addressed to Governor Oborevwori and made available to Fresh Angle International in the early hours of Monday March 24, the Abigborodo leaders, recalled how in 2010, the then Governor of Delta State, Dr. Emmanuel Eweta Uduaghan approved the establishment of the polytechnic in Abigborodo.

The letter, signed by the Secretary, Abigborodo Community, Leaders of Thought, Monday Agbeyi, Ph.D, on behalf of Abigborodo leaders, noted inter-alia: “Your Excellency, it is on the above we want to first hinge this piece; to commend you for the delicious and tasty ‘Ukodo’ you have been serving to Deltans by way of quality governance and purposeful leadership since your assumption of office on May 29th, 2023.

“We are proud of you, especially when we give cognizance to the quality and mind-blowing legacy laden people-oriented projects you are delivering across the State and your clear-cut vision to ensure completion of various life touching projects initiated by previous administrations in the State – practically giving the best definition to term ‘government is a continuum’.

“While the tractors are moving; the bridges are flying; elegant structures springing forth; the roads connecting our communities; the glow of the solar lights bidding farewell to darkness in our very before; and the storm drainages saying good-bye to flooding in our cities, you have become the golden fish with no hiding place, the beautiful bride and the star-boy in the league of fellow governors in the Country, earning you the well-deserved prestigious award of the Governor of the Year.

“Your Excellency, even those who are yet to have a direct taste of the ‘Ukodo’, are confident that Delta State is in a safe hand and their faith is strengthened that you are a man that keeps your words. Thus, keeping faith with your promise that the ‘Ukodo’ will go round.

ISSUES

“Your Excellency will recall that in 2010, the then Governor of Delta State, His Excellency Dr Emmanuel Eweta Uduaghan approved the establishment of a polytechnic in Abigborodo Community in Warri North Local Government Area of the State, Delta State Polytechnic, Abigborodo.

“According to His Excellency, Dr Emmanuel Uduaghan at the time, apart from the desire to enhance the human capital development programme of the State by equipping young Deltans with the requisite technical expertise for the development of the State, the institution will also assist in absorbing the teaming population of qualified young Deltans unable to secure admissions to enhance their education in other tertiary institutions in the country.

“Your Excellency, suffice it to add that the Abigborodo Polytechnic is inter alia pivotal to the economic growth and development of lots of communities in Warri Noth Local Government Area through its potential to open up the area for economic prosperity, curb rural urban drift and make more visible the potentials in the area for prospective investors especially real estate investors, which for us is clearly in-line with your vision of fast-tracking real developments, cutting across human and capital, in the rural areas of the State.

“It is, however, painful Your Excellency for us to bring to your attention that this lofty vision with plenty of developmental prospects for communities in Warri North Local Government Area and the State in general, has become a shadow of itself, laying in ruins and now being faced with the threat of being an abandoned project.

“We know it will be a subject of great disturbance to His Excellency, knowing your commendable knack and uncommon love for projects with direct bearing on the lives of Deltans and your disdain for wastage of resources clearly visible in your management of scarce resources in the State to achieve so much within a short time, that the last time resources were committed to the development of the budding infrastructure in the polytechnic site, was when former Governor Uduaghan was in power.

“Today, the infrastructures being developed for the take-off of the Delta State Polytechnic, Abigborodo  and fears of the vision not to be met with stillbirth has been left to fate.

OUR PLEA

“Your Excellency, our plea, as far as this subject is concern, has always been simple and straight forward. It is encapsulated in our firm resolve that this vision should not be allowed to die, and it must not die.

“Our faith on our resolve becomes even stronger under you, seeing how you have performed excellently well like an expert surgeon taking all ailing projects in the State to the ICU, reviving them with oxygen and carrying out the needed medical processes on them, and today, they have become hail and healthy.

“We appeal to you, Your Excellency to deploy same expertise to revive the Delta State Polytechnic, Abigborodo  and make it hail and healthy.

“Today as we speak Your Excellency, Abigborodo has a number of structures the community is willing to donate to the State Government to serve as the take-off campus for the Polytechnic and all we are appealing for is for His Excellency to give the necessary approvals and Delta State Polytechnic, Abigborodo will commence the next academic session with other higher institutions in the Country.

“We thus, appeal to our amiable and performing Governor to consider the strategic location of the Abigborodo Polytechnic, its humongous benefits to the peace loving people of Warri North Local Government Area and the State at large as well as what the commencement of the Polytechnic would mean to the people and the blossoming legacy of His Excellency, to make the commencement and completion of Delta State Polytechnic, Abigborodo top on your priority list.

CONCLUSION

“Our faith in you, Your Excellency to make great history among our people and set Abigborodo Community and Warri North Local Government Area on the path of real human capital and infrastructural development by committing to the commencement and completion of on-going infrastructures of the Abigborodo Polytechnic is unwavering.

“No doubt you are keeping your words that the ‘Ukodo’ will go round, and you have silenced the naysayers with your performance that even the blind can’t feign ignorance of.

“For us in Abigborodo, we are hopeful and optimistic that you will afford us the opportunity to have a taste of the ‘Ukodo’ at this point of our need.”
