Defection: Oborevwori, Okowa hiding something from the grassroots, decampees should vacate PDP secretariats

Former Special Assistant on Youth Development to ex-Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, Chief Priest Yomere Otti Roland, says it is an aberration and shame to Delta State for Governor Sheriff Oborevwori and Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa to dump the Peoples Democratic Party for the All Progressives Congress, claiming that the duo, are hiding something from people of the grassroots.

Chief Priest Yomere, who spoke exclusively to Fresh Angle International in Warri, Tuesday April 29, stated that it was untrue that state governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori and other leaders of PDP, consulted widely before defecting to the All Progressives Congress.

Whilst alleging that there was high level arrangement to cover up for the mess leaders of the PDP (in the state) did in the past, Yomere, asserted: “How can the sitting governor, immediate past governor, all PDP structure that we have been using to win elections since democracy (the current republic) in Nigeria, have now automatically become members of All Progressives Congress?

“They are some of us, who are core PDP and will not betray PDP. It’s just a section of people, who classify themselves to a structure that left. I assure that the grassroots still remain PDP.

“It is not true that there was wide consultation that led to the defection of the structure of PDP to APC. There was high level arrangement to cover up for the mess some of them, have done in the past. There is nothing like wide consultation. This is not fair. It is not true. This is unacceptable, we the grassroots structure of PDP, we remain in PDP and we are going to work with PDP and we will deliver PDP.

“We the common people at the grassroots, are the ones they used to deliver. They should come out and tell the people the truth, why they are bringing PDP down, because of APC.

“To the grassroots, don’t be deterred. Wike is still a member of PDP, Chief James Ibori is still a member of PDP, so who is deceiving who? There is something, they are hiding from the grassroots.

“PDP has been winning elections in Delta State from 1999 till date, now you are removing all the structures, because of your personal interests. We will not accept it.

“When nobody believed in Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, we the local structures, believed him, because he is grassroost man, when he came onboard, he was doing the right thing to convince us that he is capable, now he has dumped the interest of the Delta state, because of some persons. He has failed us.

“The moment you defect from PDP to APC, you cease to exist in every structure of PDP, the national secretariat, the local government secretariat, the ward and unit, there all belong to PDP, not APC, so they should PDP secretariats.

“To PDP grassroots, don’t be afraid, we are going to consult with the National Working Committee of PDP, the leaders at the National level to ensure that all PDP structures are put in place at the state, local, ward and unit levels. PDP is on ground and we are not shaking.”
