Lagos - Calabar Coastal Highway, has silenced Obasanjo, Atiku, Obi - Ohanaeze Ndigbo

The Ohanaeze Ndigbo worldwide, says the Lagos - Calabar Coastal Highway, has silenced former President Olusegun Obasanjo, ex - Vice President Atiku Abubakar, former Anambra governor, Peter Obi and other opposition politicians.

The apex Igbo socio - cultural body, made the declaration in an electronic statement sent to Fresh Angle International Tuesday night.

In the statement e - signed by its Deputy President - General, Mazi Okechukwu Isiguzoro and National Spokesman, Chief Thompson Ohia, the zenith Igbo organization, commended President Tinubu and the Federal Executive Council for their decisive approvals concerning critical infrastructure projects in the Southeast.

The statement, reads :" "The Apex Igbo Sociocultural Organization, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, is pleased to extend its warm congratulations to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in anticipation of his momentous undertaking on May 25, 2025, wherein he will officially commission the 30-kilometer Section One of the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway. This milestone will be celebrated alongside the commissioning of an additional 10 kilometers of Section Two of this vital infrastructure, as well as 10 kilometers of the Sokoto-Badagry route at the Kebbi Axis. These developments embody a significant leap toward advancing our national infrastructure, representing not merely bricks and mortar, but a path toward economic rejuvenation and unity.

"Ohanaeze Ndigbo expresses profound appreciation for the unwavering support rendered by President Tinubu and the Federal Executive Council (FEC) to the Minister of Works, Senator Dave Umahi, in facilitating the swift completion of these crucial projects. Notably, the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway has effectively countered and silenced numerous criticisms from a coalition of opposition politicians, including former President Olusegun Obasanjo, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, and former Anambra Governor Peter Obi. These once vociferous detractors now find themselves at a crossroads, compelled to reconsider their previous assertions that this transformative highway initiative was wasteful and emblematic of an "elephant project." It is now our expectation that these critics will publicly acknowledge the commendable efforts made by the Federal Government to ensure the timely realization of these projects under the astute supervision of Senator Umahi.

"Ohanaeze Ndigbo commends the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the FEC for their decisive approvals concerning critical infrastructure projects in the Southeast. These include the ?25 billion awarded for the Abakaliki-Afikpo Flyover, the ?450 billion earmarked for the 77-kilometer Onitsha-Enugu Expressway, and ?30 billion allocated for Phase One of the Aba-Ikot Ekpene Road. Upon completion, these vital roads will provide a substantial boost to economic development in the Southeast region, fortifying the confidence of the Igbo people in the current administration.

"In light of these significant advancements, we urge former President Obasanjo, former Vice President Atiku, and former Governor Peter Obi to transcend political divides and extend their congratulations to President Tinubu as he ushers in the commissioning of the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway project. It is imperative for Nigeria’s democratic health that we engage in constructive criticism that fosters dialogue and leads to meaningful governmental improvements.

"In recognition of the monumental achievements realized under his leadership, we further commend Senator Umahi for his pivotal role in driving these projects to fruition. This success is poised to resonate positively as President Tinubu approaches the celebration of his second anniversary in office on May 29, 2025.

" Ohanaeze Ndigbo remains unwavering in its commitment to advocating for the needs and aspirations of the Ndigbo and all Nigerians. We believe that our collective path forward must be built upon unity, understanding, and a dedication to fostering a prosperous future for our beloved country."
