Dr. Muhammad Yunus: Bangladesh’s Netanyahu!

In the chronicles of modern political betrayal, few transformations are as stark and chilling as that of Dr. Muhammad Yunus. Once lauded across the globe as the “banker to the poor” and hailed as a Nobel Peace Prize laureate—a distinction he masterfully parlayed into personal prestige—Yunus now presides over an illegitimate, foreign-backed regime in Bangladesh.

He navigates a treacherous terrain, one riddled with crises that he and his treasonous domestic and foreign allies have deliberately cultivated. His descent into authoritarianism mirrors, with alarming precision, the political trajectory of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu—an architect of division, deceit, and state-sanctioned repression. Is the comparison far-fetched? Sadly, it is not. It is tragically apt.

From Microfinance Messiah to Macro-Deceiver

Yunus’s rise—from pioneer of microfinance to puppet despot—is a tale of artifice cloaked in idealism. His founding of Grameen Bank was once celebrated as revolutionary; yet, in reality, its impact was overstated and often exploitative. Through slick public relations and relentless Western patronage, he was transformed into a global icon. But his foray into politics has laid bare a different figure—one stripped of nobility, brimming with hubris, and utterly void of democratic ethos.

Installed at the helm of power following the unconstitutional coup that deposed Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on 5 August 2024, Yunus assumed the role of interim leader. This position demanded vision and moral courage—traits he has demonstrably failed to exhibit.

A Nation Unraveling

Since his unlawful ascent, Bangladesh has been plunged into chaos. Mass protests have erupted nationwide—led by teachers, workers, and civil servants—demanding fair wages and the repeal of draconian policies. The deregistration of the Awami League, the party that birthed the nation in 1971 at the bay of blood, has inflamed tensions, transforming civil discontent into righteous defiance.

Compounding this turmoil is Yunus’s precarious relationship with the military. Deep fissures between his unlawful and puppet government and the armed forces—exposed most acutely during disputes over the proposed Rakhine humanitarian corridor—have stoked rumors of his quiet resignation although it was a veiled and dirty trick to garner mor support to his fold, both nationally and internationally. The fragility of his hold on power is now confutable.

Netanyahu’s Reflection in Dhaka

The parallels between Yunus and Netanyahu are not rhetorical flourishes—they are factual reflections. Both men exploit the language of reform to mask authoritarian control. Netanyahu has long wielded fear, exclusion, and institutional erosion to consolidate power. Yunus mirrors him in method and in motive.

Both face legal scrutiny. Netanyahu’s legacy is marred by corruption charges; Yunus, too, is mired in allegations of financial misconduct, tax evasion, and labor exploitation. Neither governs by popular mandate—they rule through repression, foreign patronage, and cynical manipulation.

A Fractured Political Order

Under Yunus’s watch, Bangladesh’s political landscape has become dangerously fragmented. Meanwhile, the military casts an increasingly ominous shadow over his civilian rule.

His silence amid the rise in communal violence and his failure to protect religious and ethnic minorities betray a man either unwilling or incapable of upholding the inclusive ideals he once pretended to champion.

The Precipice of Collapse

Bangladesh teeters on the brink—economically, socially, and morally. The coup of 5 August 2024 unleashed a new wave of corruption unprecedented in scale. Bribery has tripled. Honest entrepreneurs face constant harassment. As someone who has worked in the private business firms for over five decades (I am still working) and currently, I have to interact with more than thirty government departments, I have witnessed firsthand the rot now engulfing the republic with more ferociousness.

I wrote five appeals to the so-called "Advisors." Not one replied. Their silence is an insult to the suffering people of Bangladesh.

Tens of thousands now languish in unemployment. Their cries echo through silenced streets, while the press lies shackled. Television channels have been taken off air. Truth has been replaced with propaganda.

Meanwhile, Yunus enriches himself with impunity

He has brokered sweetheart deals—Starlink, Google Pay—and dodged Tk. 661 crore in taxes. And still, he is gifted another five-year tax holiday. His entourage of cronies has looted billions, while ordinary citizens sink into starvation.

A Grotesque Charade from Tokyo

On 28 May 2025, speaking from Tokyo, Yunus—Bangladesh’s Netanyahu—proclaimed that national elections would be held by June 2026. A grotesque farce. A sham. A lie wrapped in diplomatic varnish.

The Perfidious Alliance

This regime is buttressed by a toxic cabal—the CIA, ISI, Yunus, Waker, and the bloodstained Jamaati collaborators. These forces are not interested in progress. They are agents of regression. Their allegiance is to the poison of 1947, not the glory of 1971. Together, they desecrate the memory of our Liberation War to establish Bangladesh in 1971.

The Unforgivable Sin: Banning the Awami League

The outlawing of the Awami League—the party that led our nation to freedom—is not merely unconstitutional. It is a crime against history. No election can be credible without the Awami League’s full and active participation—both within Bangladesh and among the diaspora. This truth must thunder from every rooftop.

A Military Purge Masked as Reform

In a chilling move, the Yunus regime has begun purging the armed forces, targeting officers appointed between 2009 and 2024. Hundreds face dismissal; thousands may be forced into early retirement. This is no reform—it is vengeance.

And the Army Chief? His words ring hollow. Since 5 August, his actions have betrayed the republic. He is but another Moshtaque—a traitor in uniform.

The Ghosts of the Cold War

Let there be no doubt: this is unfinished business from the Cold War. The CIA never forgave us for our victory in 1971. On 5 August 2024, they exacted revenge—not just on Sheikh Hasina, but on the very soul of Bangladesh. Their vendetta now wears the cloak of diplomacy and aid.

Deceit—Thy Name is America

America, the self-proclaimed beacon of democracy, has again revealed its duplicity. Yunus was not installed to govern, but to safeguard American interests. Removing him will not be easy. It will require wisdom, resilience, and strategic engagement—including the mobilization of high-powered lobbying efforts in Washington.

Conclusion: Betrayal Writ Large

Dr. Muhammad Yunus’s descent—from the manipulated Nobel laureate to despised despot—is not a tragedy of broken dreams, but a betrayal of sacred promises. He has not united the country—he has fractured it. He has not empowered the people—he has silenced them.

The analogy to Netanyahu is not just poetic—it is prophetic. Both men will be remembered not for their accolades, but for the darkness they cast over their nations.

Yunus’s legacy is one of repression, exclusion, and deceit. His alliances and actions stand in contempt of the ideals of 1971. Instead of building a secular, democratic, and pluralist nation, he has chosen to walk hand-in-hand with those who once sought to destroy it—Jamaati zealots, fundamentalist extremists, and political opportunists.

These are not reformers. They are erasers of history. Their goal is not justice—it is obliteration. This is not governance—it is treason. It is an assault on the soul of Bangladesh.

The Path Forward

Now is the time to rally, to organize, to resist with unyielding spirit. We rise not for revenge—but for justice. Not for power—but for truth. We rise to reclaim our nation—for democracy, for dignity, for the dream that gave us life in 1971.
