Warri South Council secures commitment of host community for mega farm project, moves against building collapse

The authorities of Warri South Local Government Council, have secured commitment from the leadership of Orere-Oluba Community, for the commencement of a 20-acre of land mega farm project christened ‘Warri South Sheriff Care Farm Estate’.

The Chairman of Warri South Local Government Area, Comr. Agbateyiniro Weyinmi Isaac, had in February this year, approved the statutory two percent for Agriculture, for commencement of the multifaceted farm project, which will encompass the cultivation of cassava, tomatoes, pepper, vegetable of different kinds, yam as well as livestock.

 

 

Addressing newsmen, Monday August 5, shortly after an Executive Council meeting of Warri South, the Council’s Supervisor for Agriculture, Hon. Amiwe Pinnick Mofe, disclosed that Orere-Oluba has given the Council 20 acres of land, on the premise that they would be stakeholders in the project.

Hon. Mofe, assured that the Council would start clearing and sectionalising of the land next week, stating that the Administration is ready to partner interested investors.

Warri South Council Supervisor for Health, Hon. Ese Deduwa Gift, who also briefed newsmen after the exco meeting, averred that the Council Boss, Comr. Agbateyiniro, had mandated him to resume daily at the Warri South Council Cottage Hospital, as part of strategies to ensure maximum use of the facility.

Hon. Ese Gift, asserted: “The centre needs to have a functional pharmacy, laboratory as well as engagement of more professionals. One of the strategies to be deployed, will be to engage more professional health personnel as well as putting enough drugs for patients to access.”

The Head of Legal Department, Warri South Local Government Council, Onome Udoro Esq., told Correspondents, that exco also approved three Executive Bills that would be transmitted to Warri South Legislative Arm, for consideration and possible passage.

According to the Legal Practitioner, the three Executive Bills are; Warri South Local Government Council Freedom Square /Centre Bylaw 2025, Warri South Local Government Council Building/ Construction Regulation Bylaw 2025 and Warri South Local Government Council Compulsory Use of Life Jacket on Waterways Bylaw 2025.

Udoro Esq., explained that the Warri South Local Government Council Building/ Construction Regulation Bylaw 2025, is aimed at curbing incessant building collapse and ensuring that structures are erected after necessary approval.

He noted that the Warri South Local Government Council Compulsory Use of Life Jacket on Waterways Bylaw 2025, would reduce boat mishaps on the waterways, when passed into law.
