Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, Senior Special Assistant to President Bola Tinubu on Sustainable Development Goals, SDGs, Princess Adejoke Orelope- Adefulire and the Ag. Medical Director/CEO of Federal Medical Centre, FMC, Asaba, Dr. Ekeneam Omo, were among prominent stakeholders that commended the Olu of Warri, Ogiame Atuwatse III, for the critical role he played towards the eventual take-off of the 80-bedded Renewed Hope Mother and Child Specialist Hospital, Ugbuwangue-Warri.
Fresh Angle International, can report they gave the commendation Tuesday August 19, in Warri, Delta State, during the official commissioning of the Renewed Hope Mother and Child Specialist Hospital, Ugbuwangue in Warri.
Governor Oborevwori, who was represented by his Chief of Staff, Hon. Johnson Erijo, commended President Tinubu and the Office of the Senior Special Assistant on Sustainable Development Goals to the President, for the medical facility.

Whilst stating that the project aligns with his administration’s MORE Agenda of adequate and affordable health care for all, the Delta State Chief Executive, said investing in healthcare, is investing in the future of healthier, stronger and prosperous State.
He promised to partner the Federal Medical Centre to protect the facility and ensure it's fully integrated to the Delta State health care system.
Senior Special Assistant to President Bola Tinubu on Sustainable Development Goals, SDGs, Princess Adejoke Orelope- Adefulire, reportedly recalled how the 20th Olu of Warri, Ogiame Ikenwoli, facilitated the project and the current Olu of Warri, Ogiame Atuwatse III, strengthened the commitment as well as ensured that the health facility becomes a reality.

According to her, the Olu of Warri, Ogiame Atuwatse III, donated quarters for Doctors and other medical personnel working in the hospital.
Princess Orelope- Adefulire, stated that the hospital was a sign that Nigeria is fulfilling the SDGs, particularly Goal 3, which is good health and well-being.

Whilst praising President Tinubu for his visionary leadership, Princess Orelope- Adefulire, appreciated Governor Oborevwori, for creating enabling environment for the area and the state to thrive.
She encouraged patients to make good use of the facility, saying the specialist hospital is well equipped and ready to carter for patients, just as she encouraged pregnant women to come for antenatal clinic “as qualified gynaecologist are available to care for them always.”
Chairman of The Board of Federal Medical Centre, FMC, Asaba, Dr. (Mrs.) Mary Alile Idele, in her remarks, described the hospital as a beacon of hope to the people, saying it is a transformation of Renewed Hope to people of the area.
She commended President Tinubu for the project and appealed for additional standby generator, to ensure interrupted power supply in the hospital.
In his welcome address, the Ag. Medical Director, Federal Medical Centre, FMC, Asaba, Dr. Ekeneam Omo, explained: “This project was built by the Federal Government through the Office of the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and handed over to the Management of the Federal Medical Centre, Asaba.
“This facility was named Renewed Hope Mother and Child Specialist Hospital because it aligns with Mr. President's Renewed Hope Agenda, which focuses on improving healthcare accessibility and achieving universal health coverage. It also demonstrates government's commitment to achieving SDG Goal 3, which prioritizes good health and well-being.
“The hospital commenced clinical services in June 2024 and has continued to expand its services to meet the critical healthcare needs of the community and its neighbours. The hospital's focus is on maternal and child health; however, provision has been made for the management of all other health conditions, through a seamless referral system with the Federal Medical Centre, Asaba.
“The facility is an 80-bedded hospital, which consists of an Emergency ward, Female Ward. Paediatric Ward, Neonatal Ward, Labour Ward, an Intensive Care Unit, an ultra-modern theatre with a standard recovery room, laboratory, ICU with adult and paediatric ventilators, ultrasound machine, diathermy, computers, autoclave, consulting rooms, and fully furnished accommodation for staff.
“The facility is powered by the national grid, with additional support from a 275 KVA diesel generator.
“I want to appreciate OSSAP-SDGs, led by Princess Adejoke Orelope-Adefulire, for this very impactful project. As the Ag. Medical Director, I am humbled by the responsibility of leading a team that will bring this infrastructure to life through dedicated service. Our pledge is to uphold the highest standards of medical ethics, professionalism, and compassion. We shall ensure that every patient who walks through these doors is treated with dignity, empathy, and excellence.
“I also wish to appreciate His Imperial Majesty, Ogiame Atuwatse III, the Olu of Warri, for providing the piece of land for the construction of the hospital and the staff residential quarters after the hospital was taken over by FMC Asaba Management, and also the host community for their cooperation and warm embrace of this project.
“It is our hope and plan to nurture this hospital so that it will grow to become a centre of excellence in Nigeria for preventive care, maternal and child health, health education, and community outreach. It will also provide opportunities for training and capacity-building of healthcare workers.
“To meet the above targets and plans, there is requirement for additional space to construction a building for diagnostic, laboratory services, and a morgue. I wish to make a passionate appeal for the provision of a piece of land and the construction of a building for that purpose.
“Other urgent needs of the hospital include the following:
1. Revamping of the solar powered system to ensure affordable and clean energy supply.
2. Ambulance
3. Utility vehicle (Toyota Hilux)
4. Digital X-ray machine
5. CT scan machine”
The Chairman of Warri South Local Government Area, Hon. Agbateyiniro Weyinmi Isaac, in his keynote remarks, stated: “This project is epochal to us in Warri South Local Government Area.
“We thank President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the project, the facility is Renewed Hope in Warri South.
“Renewed Hope Agenda is well seen in Warri South, as a result of the magnificent Mother and Child Specialist Hospital.
Member of the Ruling Council of Ugbuwangue Community, Elder Jimoh Oma Egbejule, in an address on behalf of the community, asserted: “We wish to place on record our profound gratitude to the Federal Government of Nigeria, under the able leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR for the establishment of the Mother and Child Hospital, which is an Annex of the Federal Medical Centre, Asaba in Ugbuwangue.
“This facility is a laudable intervention that has brought healthcare facilities closer to our people.”
Elder Egbejule, appealed to Governor Oborevwori to facilitate provision of additional equipment and deployment of more medical personnel, to ensure the hospital operates at full capacity and meets the growing healthcare needs of Ugbuwangue and neighboring communities.
The community, advocated for the construction of new access roads, linking Ugbuwangue to neighboring communities, so as to promote business and commerce
They also pleaded for rehabilitation and asphalting of existing internal roads in Ugbuwangue and provision of proper drainage systems, to tackle perennial flooding along major routes.
