INDI, Itsekiri Ex - agitators counter Awani, say 10,000 Ijaws were deployed to Novena University under PAP

The Itsekiri National Development Initiative, INDI and Itsekiri Ethnic Nationality Ex - agitators' Forum, have countered Barr. Esimaje Awani, saying 10,000 Ijaws were deployed to Novena University, Ogume in Ndokwa West Local Government Area of Delta State, under the Presidential Amnesty Programme, PAP.

Barr. Esimaje Awani, had in a statement made available to Fresh Angle International Monday evening, described the deployment of 5,000 persons to same university, under the Presidential Amnesty Programme as unprecedented and fraudulently done. President of Itsekiri National Development Initiative, INDI and Coordinator, Itsekiri Ethnic Nationality Ex - agitators' Forum, Comrade Dennis Mene, while reacting to Barr. Awani's claim Monday night, queried the rationale behind Awani's position. Mene, stated: "Our attention has been drawn to Comrade Esimaje Awani's publication concerning the deployment of Itsekiri to Novena University. It is surprising that Esimaje Awani is speaking out now, given his role in the deployment; what prompted him to do so at this time?

"We would have anticipated that he congratulate the initiative of the Office of the Sole Representative of the Olu of Warri to NNPC/JV Partners for coming to the rescue of the abandoned students in Novena University, rather than issuing this unsolicited publication seemingly intended to garner favour from his new associates and demeaned the laudable initiative.

 "The students deployed to Novena University have been abandoned by the Presidential Amnesty Office under Dr. Dennis Otuaro's leadership, reportedly due to their Itsekiri ethnicity. Similarly, over 10,000 Ijaws were deployed to the same institution at about same time and have been absorbed, with their school fees fully paid. What could be the reason for the Itsekiri students being abandoned?

"While we have suspended our planned action against the Presidential Amnesty Programme under Dr. Dennis Otuaro's leadership to give room for dialogue with leaders, we will not tolerate any attempt by some disgruntled elements to trade with the destinies of Itsekiri students, and at the opportune moment, the Itsekiri Ex-agitators Forum, in conjunction with other groups, will embark on a shutdown dubbed 'Ground Zero'."
