The Chairman of Warri South Local Government Area, Comrade Agbateyiniro Weyinmi Isaac, has enjoined residents of Warri to go about their legitimate businesses, saying all markets in Warri South Local Government Area are fully operational.
The Warri South Local Government Chief Security Officer, in a statement released Monday September 22, urged traders and customers to disregard speculations that a particularly market in Warri, would be closed for business Monday September 22.
He advised residents of Warri to stop rumours capable of creating panic in the minds of responsible citizens, saying making inciting comments or spreading falsehood, will not be tolerated by his administration.
The Council Boss, noted that the proscription of public procession in Warri South Local Government Area, has not been lifted, just as he advised community and opinion leaders to maintain law and order in their various communities.
He thanked Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Francis Orohwedor Oborevwori for his timely intervention in setting up a peace committee to look into all the issues and resolve them accordingly.
While stating that Governor Oborevwori has calmed nerves due to his swift action on the issue, Comr. Agbateyiniro, admonished everyone to take full advantage of the committee set up by the state government, warning that no one will be allowed to take the laws into their hand as the security agencies, have been fully mobilised to ensure law and order.
