Amb. Chief Godwin Okporoko, JP, Executive Assistant, Security Matters To Delta State Governor, has appealed to Urhobos, Ijaws and Itsekiris in Warri Federal Constituency to live in peace and embrace unity.
In a statement on Monday, Okporoko said Warri was still recovering from the last ethnic crisis, warning that any further ethnic crisis will finally cripple the oil city.
He said, “Urhobos, Ijaws and Itsekiris in Warri Federal Constituency are neighbours and in-laws because they have intermarried, still doing so, and doing businesses together”.
Okporoko, President General, Owahwa Sub-Clan, OML34, Ughievwen Kingdom, Ughelli South LGA, urged the leaders and elders in Warri Federal Constituency to caution the youths to desist from violence.
He noted that Governor Sherriff Oborevwori was making frantic efforts to bring back the lost glory of Warri.
“The Governor, His Excellency, Sherriff Oborevwori is executing projects, installing solar streets lights, fixing bad roads in Warri and Environs, beautifying the environment to give a facelift to the oil city”.
Okporoko, Chairman of Ughelli South United Forum, further stated, “Investors are showing interest in Warri, the Governor is doing a lot of work to bring Warri back to life. As citizens, we should support the Governor, and not instigating another ethnic crisis in Warri”.
The prominent Urhobo leader, concluded that, “Warri needs infrastructural development, investors coming to do business, employment and good life for the youths in Warri Federal Constituency. This can only be achieved in an atmosphere of peace and unity”.
