In a significant move to strengthen community relations and foster peace, the Ndigbo community resident in Ebira Land paid a high-profile courtesy visit to the Honourable Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Muizudeen Yunus Abdullahi, SAN.
Our Kogi State Correspondent, reports that the visit, which took place in the Attorney-General's office, was marked by expressions of solidarity, pledges of support, and frank discussions aimed at resolving internal conflicts within the Igbo community.
A representative of the Igbo community stated that the primary purpose of the visit was to formally introduce their newly crowned traditional ruler in Kogi Central to the Attorney-General, solidifying the leadership structure of the community within the state.
The delegation expressed profound appreciation for the good work of the Attorney-General, offering prayers for a successful tenure. They also formally introduced the President of the community, High Chief Sebastian Ani, to the Honourable Attorney-General.
During the meeting, a community representative raised concerns about internal distractions that have led to disharmony among its members. They appealed directly to the Attorney General for his intervention to help restore unity and order within the community.
In his warm response, the Attorney-General, Muizudeen Yunus Abdullahi, SAN, welcomed the delegation and commended the Igbo community for their immense contributions to the stable economy of Kogi State.
Acknowledging that conflicts can sometimes arise between host and settler communities, he urged the Igbo community to exercise tolerance and prioritize peaceful coexistence with their Ebira hosts at all times. He reiterated that his principal, His Excellency Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, has consistently preached the message of peace and oneness throughout Ebira land and Kogi State.
Addressing their specific request, the Attorney-General promised to take necessary legal steps to resolve the internal conflicts and disputes causing division within the Igbo community. He assured them that his doors are always open for dialogue and collaboration.
