An Itsekiri group, Voice of Warri Kingdom Women, has written Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, saying the rightful name is Okerenghigho not Okerenkoko, in reference to when Governor Oborevwori pledged his administration’s commitment to partner the Niger Delta Development Commission and Chevron Nigeria Limited for the construction of Omadino-Escravos Road.

In the letter dated October 22, 2025 and addressed to Governor Oborevwori, Voice of Warri Kingdom Women, stated that there is nowhere in law called Okerenkoko, “what the law has is Okerenghigho.”

President of Voice of Warri Kingdom Women, Mrs. Vivian Mene, in the correspondence made available to Fresh Angle International, Wednesday October 22, noted inter-alia: “Concerning the road project pledges partnership with NDDC, Chevron on Omadino we want to bring to your notice that the rightful name is Okerenghigho not Okerenkoko, Voice of Warri Kingdom Women is not against the new development, but please correct the name for better understanding.

“There is nowhere in law called Okerenkoko, what the law has is Okerenghigho, also we saw a video made by the Commissioner of Police, recently addressing the public and also did mistake saying Odion Urhobo.

“These are some of the reasons we are having ethnic crisis in Warri, because what the law says is different from what the government acknowledges or saying Ogbe-Ijoh is not known by law, Okerenkoko is not known by law, Odion Urhobo is not known by law.

“According to court judgment sue No/101/ in 1973 anybody from Agbassa/ Igbudu and any areas around is known as Itsekiri tenants.

“And we are calling on the government to enforce all judgment in favour of Itsekiri to implement it for peace to be permanent in Warri.”
