Julitola International School Leads Statewide Campaign to End Bullying in Kogi

Julitola International Schools, Lokoja (JTIS), one of Kogi State’s leading educational institutions, has announced major steps to curb bullying within its learning environment and in communities across the state.

In a statement issued on Friday, the Head of School, Mr. Adedayo Adewunmi, revealed that the institution successfully concluded its 2025 "End Bullying Week", a comprehensive awareness campaign designed to promote safety, empathy, and respect among children and teenagers.

Our Kogi State Correspondent, reports that Adewunmi explained that this year’s programme placed strong emphasis on addressing bullying at home, in schools, and within communities.

“This year’s programme focused strongly on bullying in our communities, its dangers, and the urgent need for all stakeholders schools, parents, government agencies, and community leaders to work together to put an end to it,”he said.

He added that students participated in various activities including seminars, group discussions, sensitisation rallies, and creative presentations. According to him, these engagements helped students understand:The emotional, social, and academic impact of bullying;

Their responsibility to speak up and stand against intimidation; The collective role of schools and society in building safer learning environments.

Adewunmi further disclosed that, as part of the school’s commitment to child protection, JTIS inaugurated an Anti–Gender-Based Violence (Anti-GBV) Club, aimed at empowering students to speak against all forms of violence, discrimination, and abuse.

“This inauguration was carried out by officials of the Directorate, Ministry of Justice, Kogi State an important partnership that strengthens our mission to build a safer and more just community for all children,” he noted.

He commended parents, staff, invited guests, and partners who contributed to the success of the campaign.

“Our doors remain open to every stakeholder who believes in raising responsible, confident, and compassionate learners,” he said.

“Together, we say NO to bullying and NO to GBV. Together, we build a safer future for our children.”

Adewunmi also encouraged other schools across the state to adopt similar child-protection initiatives, saying:“Bullying is not just a school issue; it is a societal challenge. If every institution plays its part, we can collectively secure a safer learning environment for every child in Kogi State.”
