Host communities to Conoil Producing PLC in Delta State, under the auspices of OML 150 Communities’ Consultative Forum, have threatened to force a new rig brought by the company to its operational base in Warri Federal Constituency.
Secretary to OML 150 Communities’ Consultative Forum, Oritseweyinmi Emmanuel Agbonekuya Aginejuone, who handed down the threat on behalf of the communities, in a telephone chat with Fresh Angle International Wednesday November 26, accused the company of engaging 300 workers, without involvement of the host communities.
Whilst alleging that Conoil Producing PLC, believes in divide and rule principle, Aginejuone, declared: “We are vehemently going against the action of Conoil. We have made up our mind to wait from now (Wednesday) till tomorrow, Thursday, we will force the rig to leave.
“We have been on peaceful protest against Conoil. Our protest will persist and we will not give up, until the company addresses our legitimate agitation, by dealing with the host communities.”
