Details are still emerging of how the embattled Head of Personnel Management, HPM of Isoko North Local Government Council, Mr. Bernard Chigwe was killed in Kwale in controversial circumstances.
Fresh Angle scooped that Mr. Bernard Chigwe who was having running battle with staffers of Isoko North Council, Ozoro over alleged financial mismanagement was killed Sunday September 30 at his farm in Kwale, Delta State.
Feelers say Mr. Chigwe received a distress call at home that his farmland was being invaded by some Hausa-Fulanis with their cattles and that his crops were being destroyed by the invaders. On hearing the information, the Isoko North Council boss went to a nearby police station in Kwale to report the issue and get police escort to be able to access his farm and see things for himself.
Little did he know that the police escort would not save his life as he was reportedly shot at his farm by unknown persons, while one of the policemen allegedly sustained gunshot injuries. Though details are still sketchy as to what part of the body, Mr. Chigwe was shot, reports from Kwale say the policemen were behind him as they were approaching the farm when the mysterious shot killed Mr. Chigwe.
As at the time of this repot, no one was seen on the farm while the late council boss’s family and fellow HPMs have been thrown into mourning.
It would be recalled that the late Mr. Bernard Chigwe was recently mobbed by angry workers of Isoko North local government council for allegedly lodging the monthly federal allocation of the council to his private bank account.
SarahaReporters had alleged in its report on August 30 that Mr. Chigwe was in the habit of channeling part of the council monthly allocations back to the Secretary to Delta State Government, Comrade Ovuozorie Macualey.
In another development, all mature males of Uzere, an Isoko community are reported to have fled the community following its invasion by security personnel allegedly detailed by the State Deputy Governor, Prof. Amos Agbe Utuamah.
Report says the security men are arresting all eligible male found in the community after some youths in the area recently mobbed the State Deputy Governor, Prof. Amos Agbe Utuamah when he visited the community on official assignment.
