A former President of defunct Warri Youth, Mr. Philip Omagbemi Awani and his business associate, Engr. Okpegboro Jesse David has been conferred with a Peace award by a UN agency, The Global Peace Festival Foundation, Abuja.
The award which is in recognition of their selfless service to mankind as well as their contribution towards the establishment of a culture of peace transcending ethnic and religious barriers is the highest category of honour bestowed on individuals by the Peace Embassy, Abuja.
Presenting the award in Effurun, Delta State, Saturday October 6, a representative of the Peace Embassy, Albert Esiri Ozuem described the award which has also been conferred on the likes of US President, Barrack Obama as the finest in the world.
According to Ozuem, nominees are properly screened to ensure that they are peace loving people with credible track record. He disclosed that the institute has a survey mechanism on ground that gives adequate report on the activities of the awardees who can now add the prefix, Ambassador to their names.
Mr. Philip Awani and Engr. Okpegboro David in their remarks described the honour as a collective one for their families and friends.
A former awardee, Ambassador Patrick Gbesimi Nikoro and Foreman Brown Idohor, said the awardees are philanthropists who seek peace at all times.
Apart from the award plaque, the awardees were also presented with green passport, certificate and seminar brochure for attending the recent Peace Embassy Conference at Abuja.
