A wave of mass transfer has hit local government councils in Delta State, Fresh Angle feelers reveal.
Reports from across the 25 local government councils in the state reveals that over 20 staff each have been transferred to neighbouring councils, while those who recently won election into various branch offices in National Union of Local Government Employees, NULGE and were affected by the transfer list which was released late last week have been told to “remain posted” as a result of their union membership.
Fresh Angle gathered that the latest mass transfer which affects staffers who have worked in a particular council for more than 9 years has jolted the entire councils, particularly those in administration department, whose list has so far been released.
This is the first major transfer carried out by the Chief Nkem Okuofu led board of the state local government service commission.
Investigations so far reveal that staffers that were transferred were taken to local government councils within their catchment areas.
In another development, the ravaging flood which has taken over many local governments in Delta state is assuming a worsening dimension as more communities in Isoko North and South local government areas work up in the early hours of Monday October 8 to see their homes and farmlands overtaken by flood.
Latest feelers from the area indicates that only Ozoro town was yet to be hit by the ravaging flood, while parts of Oleh, headquarters of Isoko South local government area has been swept aside by the flood.
A resident of Oleh who spoke to Fresh Angle in a telephone chat in the early hours of Monday October 8 said most people have vacated their homes, while household properties and farmlands estimated to be in hundreds of millions have been washed away.
The respondent said the state government’s relief materials cannot take care of the extent of devastation so far caused by the frightening flood.
