The leadership of Itsekiri National Youth Council, INYC, has cautioned politicians of Itsekiri extraction, Indigenous oil and gas investors as well as community leaders, not to trade the interest of Itsekiri Nation for their selfish political and economic gains.
President of Itsekiri National Youth Council, INYC, Comrade Appearance Afejuku, handed down the warning Wednesday December 31, 2025, in a statement to felicitate Itsekiris worldwide, especially the youths on the celebration of the successful transition into the year 2026.
The Itsekiri youth leader, said the advice became necessary as the tempo of political activities build up gradually, ahead of congresses of political parties and party primaries coming up in the middle of 2026.
According to him, the Itsekiri political class from the different political divides, should be strategic in their politicking, so as to protect and project Itsekiri interests at all times.
Whilst also urging community leaders in Itsekiri land across Warri Federal Constituency to be sensitive to the political dynamics in the days and months ahead, Comrade Afejuku assured that the Itsekiri National Youth Council, would strengthen its resolve to continually protect the territorial integrity of Itsekiri Nation, even as he stressed that the time to foster peace and unity in Iwere Nation is now.
