The Obi of Ubulu-Uku Kingdom, His RoyalHighness, Obi Edward Akaeze Ofulue III is the heir apparent, who according tocustoms and tradition of Ubulu-Uku is the legal and legitimate successor to thethrone of our ancestors. He is never a usurper, therefore the Kingship is notcontestable legally, traditionally or otherwise.
The President of the Ubulu-Uku DevelopmentCouncil (UDC), Ubulu-Uku in Aniocha South Local Government Area of Delta State,Ralph Okonye made the declaration at a press conference in his office recentlyat Effurun in Uvwie Local Government Area.
Continuing, he said that what made histhoughts went riot, was the fact that such information as published in somedailies could come from some people who were entrusted with the administrationand development of Ubulu-Uku Kingdom at a particular period.
According to the President of UDC, those whoparade themselves as the supreme traditional authority of Ubulu-Uku Kingdom arenot in any way part of the royalty and have no legitimacy, as well asconstitutional responsibilities to perform either in kingmaking or any otherway in the Ubulu-Uku political system.
Okonye emphatically stated that there is noOzim Royal Family (ORF) and no kingmakers in Ubulu-Uku since the kingship is hereditary. He fumed and describedthe statement of detractors as “an unmitigated embarrassment”.
His words “This, to the sons and daughters ofUbulu-Uku both at home and in Diaspora is an unmitigated embarrassment to thenational moral order and a big disgrace to the perpetrators who arefathers/mothers as well as agents of anarchy”. The president of UDC reiteratedthat the Ubulu-Uku king, Obi Edward Akaeze Ofulue III is the supreme authorityin the town’s political system and head of all traditional structures.
He pointed out that the said publicationswere empty and same fraught with malice, secret and hidden agenda, animosityand above all open display of irresponsibility and rascality of the highestorder against the king of Ubulu-Uku kingdom, HRH, Obi Edward Akaeze Ofulue III andthe entire people of the town. As a result, we concern same to the waste binsince they have become pompous, obdurate, recalcitrant and unwieldy, selfish, unjust and indefensible.
Okonye added “We should not resort to clearlydiscriminatory and baselessly disparaging statements, which has no foundationin reality that are also indeed contrary to the culture of Ubulu-Uku Kingdomand above all conscience and rational judgment. Let us not be evil personified. Some of us need to have our heads examined by a constitutionally recognizedmedical team to confirm or ascertain if we are mentally balanced”.
The President then called on the dissidentsin Ubulu-Uku Kingdom to demonstrate henceforth as responsible citizens and becommitted to the realization of the vision of HRH, Obi Edward Akaeze OfulueIII, which is to move Ubulu-Uku forward in the right direction. He expresseddispleasure on their recent outbursts for what they do not know as veryunedifying, unsavoury and unbecoming of any true and responsible citizen ofUbulu-Uku, adding that their statements were inciting, vexations, utterlyreckless and let us not be myopic.
Okonye made it abundantly clear that to thebest of his knowledge, consultation and participation are never denied anyonein the contributions to the development of Ubulu-Uku Kingdom. There is nooppression and suppression from the palace and one can boldly and proudly saythat the administration of Obi Edward Akaeze Ofulue III since2006 has beencomme ci comme ca that is, so far so good.
The President of the UDC used the opportunityto call on the people of Ubulu-Uku Kingdom to continue to support peace and securitywhich is part of the 3-point agenda of Governor Emmanuel Eweta Uduaghan sinceUbulu-Uku Kingdom has been a peaceful community. They should pledge theirloyalty to His Highness and government of the three tiers, that is, local, state and federal.
He also called on the people of Ubulu-UkuKingdom to come together irrespective of their religion, and political liningsand dislodge the agents of darkness and destruction no matter how highly placedand no matter how low or wise as they think they are.
