OML 150: Conoil face litigation over moves to migrate to PIA

There are strong indications that Conoil Plc, may face litigation over moves to migrate from dealing with the OML 150 Communities' Consultative Forum, to the establishment of Host Communities' Development Trust, HCDT, as enshrined in the Petroleum Industry Act, PIA.

While the immediate past Secretary of OML 150 Communities' Consultative Forum, Mr. Oritseweyinmi Emmanuel Agbonekuya Aginejuone, accused the former Chairman of the Consultative Forum, Dr. Monday Agbeyi, of wanting to midwife transition of the forum into the Petroleum Industry Act, so as to assert continued control, Dr. Agbeyi told Fresh Angle International Saturday January 31, via text " I follow the rule of law in whatever I do and those that are not satisfied, should continue to pursue their cases in court, rather than media war."

Aginejuone, said Dr. Agbeyi should differentiate between OML 150 Communities' Consultative Forum and PIA, adding " all the illegal communities raised by Monday Agbeyi, have no legal backing and will not be accepted."

The ex - OML 150 Communities' Consultative Forum scribe, urged every communities to " come up with their litigation judgment and litigation map."

Dr. Agbeyi on his part, averred: "I have something important to do with my time. "My tenure as chairman of OML 150 Communities' Consultative Forum, has expired and i have handed over to a new leadership. "Those that were not recommended by their communities, cannot be part of the new leadership and should stop media war agaist me

"Host Communities' Development Trust of the Petroleum Industry Act, is a creation of Law. Ofcourse, the law regulates the activities of the HCDT. I have no power of my own to create communities and i wonder how one would ever think that a non - existent community could be created.

"I follow the rule of law in whatever i do and those that are not satisfied, should continue to pursue their cases in court, rather than media war. They saw the media before they went to court. " The litigation plans, should be taken to Consolidated Oil and Gas and not me. It's the duty of the setlor to recognise their host communities."
