You are diverting the tricycles, commercial motorcyclists accuse politicians
Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan test-running one of the tricycles

Commercial motorcycle operators in Delta State have accused members of the political class of  diverting  the tricycles purchased  by the state governor, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan  for commercial motorcyclists to take care of the interest of their cronies.

Speaking on behalf of his colleagues at Asaba, a commercial motorcycle operator   who identified himself as Sylvester, expressed fears that the sum of one hundred and seventy thousand naira already deposited at an account allegedly run by the ministry of transport by 100 commercial motorcyclists will get lost if something urgent is not done.

Our Senior Correspondent who visited the event centre at Asaba where the tricycles are kept Tuesday October 16, reports that some of the commercial motorcyclists who showed evidence of payment  demanded  refund of their money as a result of the uncertainties surrounding the release of the tricycles.

In a swift response, Delta State Commissioner for transport, Mr. Ben Ibakpa directed the commercial motorcycle operators to go back and collect their money from wherever they  made payments.

Fresh Angle can report that the number of tricycles available for distribution as at the time of filing this report is not commensurate with the large number of applicants that have so far made payments to secure the tricycles.
It remains to be seen how the state government will be able to meet up with the high demands of the tricycles considering the number already procured and the number of commercial motorcycle operators in major cities of the state, as the renewed deadline for the ban on commercial motorcycle operation in major towns and cities draws nearer.
