After 1 ½ year operation, Delta government fails to contribute to LG workers pension scheme

There are mounting fears among local government council workers in Delta State over the position of the contributory pension scheme which started over a year ago, Fresh Angle checks reveal.

Investigation reveals that since the commencement of their monthly contribution March 2011,local government workers in the state only started receiving controversial amount as alert August this year following Fresh Angle persistent reports and analysis of the obvious uncertainty the workers are going through.

Fresh Angle gathered that no cogent reason was given by the state government through the local government service commission for the delay in receiving alert from the pension fund operator.

Despite the recent alert given by the pension fund operator, First Guarantee Pension Limited, FGPL, not a kobo of the 15% monthly contribution promised by the state government to that effect has been made by the relevant authorities.

The local government workers who bare their frustrations to Fresh Angle stated that their fears are even more heightened by the fact that their union, National Union of Local Government Employees, NULGE has not given them any brief on the development.
