A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, Chief Thompson Fuoye, on Saturday, officially declared his intention to contest the Burutu Federal Constituency seat in the House of Representatives, pledging transparent leadership and people-focused representation.
The Former Special Assistant on Community and Rural Development to Immediate Past Delta State Governor, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa who made his intention known at a meeting with Executive and Members of the Burutu LGA APC noted that his bid to represent Burutu Federal Constituency in the 2027 general election is negated by a determination to attract greater federal government presence to the oil rich area.
Addressing supporters, stakeholders and community leaders as well as executive Burutu Local Government APC, The Petroleum Economist and Philanthropist from the Niger Delta region, and a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC in Ward 3, Burutu Local Government Area, Delta State, Chief Thompson Fuoye said his decision to join the race followed what he described as a call to serve the people of the constituency, noting that leadership is a sacred responsibility and an opportunity to make meaningful impact.
Fuoye stressed that his antecedent as an Ijaw man born in northern Nigeria and educated in the South West, sets him as the best to build bridges across regions and effectively lobby for his constituency adding that Burutu Federal Constituency, Particularly the riverine communities in Burutu South requires a strong voice capable of drawing Federal attention to its developmental needs.
The aspirant pledged to remain accessible, accountable and transparent if elected, assuring constituents that their voices and concerns will be effectively represented at the National Assembly.
He promised to serve as a bridge between the government and the people while championing policies that promote unity, peace and development across the constituency.
Fuoye also outlined key areas of focus to include education, healthcare, infrastructure and economic empowerment, stressing the need to create opportunities for youths, empower women and support vulnerable groups in the society.
For their part, the Burutu Local Government Chairman of the All Progressives Congress Comr. Seikemiengha moni who spoke alongside the Director General, ONE-ON-ONE Progressive Grassroot Crusaders Movement, Comr. Caulmah Ebikonbowei David called on party faithful and residents of Burutu Federal Constituency to rally behind Fuoye’s aspiration, stressing that unity and collective support would strengthen the party’s chances in future elections.
They also urged members of the party to remain committed and work together to ensure victory for the APC in the constituency even as the APC Burutu LGA chairman emphasized on providing a level playing ground for all aspirants.
They noted that the party leadership and members in the local government area are confident in Fuoye’s ability to provide quality representation and attract meaningful development to the constituency.
The duo expressed confidence in Chief Fuoye leadership and political experience.
