Itsekiri youths from over 147 communities,  have elected maiden Ugbarajo Itsekiri Youth, UIY, excos  for four different zones.

 

Our Principal Correspondent, reports that the election held Friday March 14, at Ode-Itsekiri (Big Warri) in Warri South Local Government Area of Delta State.

 

The UIY zonal election was conducted based on the four zones of the Itsekiri communities, vis - a - vis Warri South, Warri North, Warri South-West and Edo/Delta Central zones.

Chairman of the electoral committee, Joshua Ghereje, told Fresh Angle International that each community had three delegates that participated in the election.

 

Ghereje commended delegates for their maturity during the polls, disclosing that the new officers' tenure will run for four years.

 

According to him, if anyone crosses 40 years during the tenure, a by-election will be conducted to fill the position occupied by such person.

 

The eleco Chairman opined that the Itsekiri National Youth Council, INYC isn't recognised anymore in Warri Kingdom by the Olu of Warri, hence the Ugbarajo Itsekiri Youth was set up by the Warri Monarch.

Eleven positions were contested for in each of the zones. The positions, were Chairman, Vice Chairman, Secretary, Assistant Secretary, Treasurer, Financial Secretary, Director of Social, Woman leader, Taskforce Head, PRO and Social Welfare.

 

 

Those that emerged after the polls are: Edo/Delta Central: Esogie Toritseju Endurance-Chairman, Sagay Oritsejeminetemi Paul Terry- Vice Chairman, Secretary - Harrison Besidone Abugewa,, Assistant Secretary- Usikaro Bright Precious, PRO- Aghante Omatseye Prince, Treasurer- Koma Joseph, Financial Secretary- Oritsematosan John Ukuejubola, Social Welfare Officer- Otikpere Previous Onini, Director of Mobilisation- Paul Koma, Taskforce Head- Atsebinoma Akpoudje Awinogho and Woman leader - Ofogharenor Tanto Maris. 

 

 Those elected as leaders for Warri North Zone are : Tonukarin Ofeoritse Gift-Chairman , Henry Temiyaghan- Vice Chairman, Edun Fred Utieyin - Director of Mobilisation, Oyibodudu Ajemijereoma Gladys, Toritseju Ajogungbe- Social Welfare Officer-, Financial Secretary-- Boyo Toju Moses, PRO- Madame don Babatunde, Okotie Blessing Toritsemugbone - Treasurer, Titiola Taiwo Frank- Assistant Secretary and Secretary -Eyikimi Grace Seyisan.

Members of Warri South-West Zone executive are: Aburu Japheth Oritsemuminogho- Social Welfare Officer, Jereoma Yusuf Juliet- Woman leader, Fuludu Amoma James-Taskforce Head, Director of Mobilisation had a tie, Financial Secretary-- Diden Blessing, Treasurer Ekengbuda Charles Eyebira, Atigbi Terry Ortsegbegbemi- PRO, Assistant Secretary - Ojogor Kenneth Eyinmoro, Bemigho Toritseju- Vice Chairman, Etchie Matthew Eyitemi- Secretary and Chairman- Moses Oghotuoma Amanoritsewor, he defeated Youngreen Abugewa and Eyinsan Clever Utieyin Tenasor, both of whom garnered 27 and 49 votes, respectively.

 

The winners appreciated the Warri Kingdom youths for their support and the organising committee, especially Chairman of the Electoral Committee, Joshua Ghereje, for what they described as free, fair and well accepted election.

They also commended the Olu of Warri ,Ogiame Atuwatse III, CFR, for his fatherly love and support, assuring of better service to Warri Kingdom.
