Egbokodo Community in Warri South Local Government Area, has reportedly prohibit ferry between the community and neighbouring Ugbokodo in Okpe Local Government Area for one week, due to capsize of a canoe that appeared to have claimed the lives of two passengers.
Our Roving Correspondent, reports that the canoe capsized between 7 pm and 8 pm Tuesday when the paddler lost control in-between a 10 - minute journey.
Whilst an Eye Witness alleged that the canoe paddler was under the influence of substance, some of the seven survivors of the mishap, said they sighted snake on the river on their way, forcing them to shift to one side of the canoe, which made the canaoist lost control and the canoe capsized.
One of the two persons that drowned, rescued a mother and her child, it was in an attempt to save the life of a young man, that one of his fellow passengers, reportedly grabbed him and the two of them drowned.
As at Wednesday night when this report was filed, bodies of the two people that drowned, were yet to be seen, while the paddler was said to be on the run.
