Itsekiri women, under the aegis of Voice of Warri Kingdom Women Initiative, have called on Chief Michael Johnny, to retract his statement, wherein he addressed the Warri Monarch as Olu of Itsekiri.
President of Voice of Warri Kingdom Women Initiative, Mrs. Vivian Mene, in a terse statement made available to Fresh Angle International Monday March 30, said it was disrespectful and brazen disregard for the law, for Michael Johnny or anyone else to address The Olu of Warri as Olu of Itsekiri.
According to Mrs. Mene, even when a journalist working with Arise TV, attempted to correct Chief Michael Johnny during an interview on the tv station, he purportedly disparaged the reverred title and insisted on calling the Olu of Warri, Olu of Itsekiri.
The group, warned that failure of Michael Johnny to retract his statement, would attract the full " weight of the law."
