INEC wants to cause tribal war in Warri Federal Constituency, Warri Kingdom Women allege

The Voice of Warri Kingdom Women Initiative, has accused the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC of wanting to use its first and second proposals for delineation of units, wards and constituencies to cause tribal war in Warri Federal Constituency.

The outspoken Itsekiri female group, which made the allegation during a peaceful protest Monday May 25, wondered why the Commission, “repackaged the proposal” after Itsekiri Nation and other stakeholders, rejected the first proposal released April 4, 2025.

President of Voice of Warri Kingdom Women Initiative, Mrs. Vivian Eric Mene, who led the placard carrying members of the group during the peaceful protest, called on the Federal and Delta State governments as well as chairmen of Warri North, Warri South and Warri South-West Local Government Area, to wade into the raging controversy, to avert bloodshed.

“INEC wants to use this proposal to cause tribal war in Warri Federal Constituency. We are calling on the federal government, the state government and the local government chairmen that comprises of the three Warris (Warri South, Warri North and Warri South-West) to look into the raging controversy.

“We don't need crisis in Warri Federal Constituency, we don't need bloodshed, the way INEC is going, they want to cause tribal war.

“We will no longer give our land to the Ijaws and Urhobos. We, the mothers don't want to lose our sons, brothers and fathers, be it Itsekiris, Ijaws or Urhobos, but if they come for us, we will defend our land. Itsekiris don't start war, but we don't run from it. 

“I pity the Urhobos, because they are seeing what the Gbaramatu Ijaws are doing to us, for letting them into our land, now they want to take it over. If they say they will not vote come 2027, the Itsekiris will vote”, she stated.
