The Commander NNS Delta, Commodore Shehu Mohammed Tasiu, has commended parents, guardians and community leaders for standing with their children, saying Nation-building is a shared responsibility, which starts at home and in the classroom.

The Naval Chief, said beyond securing the Nation’s waterways for the past 70years, the Nigerian Navy, has been supporting initiatives that strengthen education, unity, and social development, assuring that the Navy will continue to partner with schools, communities and stakeholders to expand programmes like NNS Delta Educational Rhapsody across the country.

Fresh Angle International, can report that Commodore Tasiu, spoke Monday May 25, during NNS Delta Educational Rhapsody at Ogiame Primary School, Warri, Delta State.

We are here to mark the Nigerian Navy’s 70th Anniversary through _Educational Rhapsody_—our initiative to support learning and youth development in our host communities. Since 1956, the Nigerian Navy has been charged with defending Nigeria’s maritime domain. But our duty does not end at sea.

For seven decades we have also invested in nation-building through civil-military cooperation, because we know that a secure country needs an educated and disciplined next generation. Education is the strongest tool we have for national transformation.

The future strength, prosperity, and security of Nigeria depend on the quality of knowledge and values we give our children today. That is why the Navy created Educational Rhapsody: to encourage learning, reward academic effort, and inspire young Nigerians to aim higher.

The materials we present today are a small but deliberate gesture. They represent our commitment to your educational aspirations here at Ogiame Primary School. We hope these books, writing materials, and learning aids will motivate you to work harder, stay disciplined, and take pride in being Nigerian. To the students: use these materials well. Be focused, be curious, and please note that the President of Nigeria, the Governor of Delta State, your Local Government Chairman, your head master, your teachers, I and every other person you see here today once sat in a classroom like this in the past. So, you too can anything you want to be if you work hard.

“To the teachers and management staff of Ogiame Primary School, thank you for your sacrifice and dedication. You are shaping character and future in difficult circumstances, and your work matters deeply.

“To parents, guardians, and community leaders: thank you for standing with these children. Nation-building is a shared responsibility, and it starts at home and in the classroom. As we celebrate 70 years of service, the Nigerian Navy remains resolute in securing our waters, while also supporting initiatives that strengthen education, unity, and social development. We will continue to partner with schools, communities, and stakeholders to expand programmes like this across the country.

May this gesture deepen the bond between the Nigerian Navy and our host community, and may it inspire greater academic commitment from every student here. I wish you all success in your studies and in the future you are building”, he stated.

The Headmistress of Ogiame Primary School, Warri, Mrs. Toju Okiemute Aziz, in her opening remarks, noted that the foundation of children, is very critical to their development and the society as a whole.
