Niger Delta Activist and Legal Adviser of Itsekiri Ethnic Nationality Ex-agitators Forum, Comrade Dennis Mene, in a statement made available to Fresh Angle International, stated that since Dr. Dennis Otuaro assumed Office as Administrator of the Presidential Amnesty Programme, no Itsekiri beneficiary has been deployed for educational and training purposes.
The statement, reads: “The Itsekiri Ethnic Nationality Ex-agitators Forum has formally condemned the exclusion of Itsekiri beneficiaries from the recent 120 Amnesty Programme Stakeholders Capacity Training, a project reportedly executed at the cost of N339 million.
“The group asserts that Itsekiri ex-agitators, who were formally captured under the third phase of the Presidential Amnesty Programme, are documented within the official database.
“Since the assumption of office by Dr. Dennis Otuaro as Administrator of the programme, there has been a deliberate abandonment of these beneficiaries, as none has been deployed for educational and training purposes, citing personal bias against the Itsekiri Nation as the primary driver for this marginalization.
“We want to express our deep frustration over the continued neglect of its members.
"We vowed that if this continues, as we have warned earlier, we will have no option than to take our destiny in our own hands.
“The Itsekiri Ethnic Nationality Ex-agitators Forum is calling for an immediate review of the programme’s stakeholder engagement processes to ensure inclusivity and equity in line with the mandate of the Presidential Amnesty Programme.”
