Critical stakeholder in OML 150 Communities’ Consultative Forum, Oritseweyinmi Emmanuel Agbonekuya Aginejuone, has dismissed existence of Aja-Olukpodu Community in Warri South Local Government Area, saying proponents of the community, are either ignorant or playing the ostrich, regarding litigation surrounding ownership of the land in question.

Aginejuone, spoke exclusively to Fresh Angle International on telephone Friday August 7, while reacting to an earlier report, where leaders of Aja-Olukpodu, lamented eight-year old crude oil spill in Conoil facility and berated the company’s management as well as National Oil Spill Detection Response Agency, NOSDRA, over failure to halt the spill and clean up the damage.

According to Aginejuone, litigation over ownership of the said land, which began in 1985 between Chief Tagbajumi Omereyemi and ors for Obodo Community (as plaintiff/applicant) Vs Elf Nigeria limited, TE Ugbameta, on behalf of Omadino Community, Chief David Omatseye and ors, on behalf of Aja-Osolo community in suit no: W/165/85, is currently before the Supreme Court.

Whilst stating that Obodo community lost the case at the court of first instance, appealed the judgment, lost again and proceeded to the Supreme Court, the self-styled veteran litigant, asserted; “They (the proponents) are trying to build something on nothing. If Conoil recognizes them, Conoil will face contempt of court.”
