The Governor of Delta State, His Excellency Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori , Thursday August 20, commended and congratulated the Ohanaeze Ndigbo Traders And Independent Workers Association (ONTIWA), Delta State Chapter on the ground breaking foundation laying and launching ceremony of their ultra Modern 180 lock up stores at Okuodiete Community in Okpe Local Government Area of Delta State. 

 

The Governor, who was ably represented by the Executive Director Projects, EDP, Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission, DESOPADEC, Olorogun Dr. Ebenezer Okorodudu in his address, noted that the Association is not only investing in the project and creating a modern commercial hub, but also contributing to job creation, Local trade and economic development of Okpe Local Government Area and Delta State.

 

"Our administration remains committed to creating opportunities for all through the MORE Agenda," he said.

 

Urging ONTIWA and the host community to sustain the spirit of cooperation that has made the project possible, he said that development is a collective responsibility through partnership and mutual understanding, affirming that the ground breaking and foundation laying ceremony was an opportunity for entrepreneurship and shared prosperity.

 

While congratulating the body on its 25 years anniversary of its existence, he prayed that God that has made it possible, will continue to strengthen them in Unity and prosperity.

 

Earlier in his speech, the President of ONTIWA, Delta State, Mazi Chibuzor Samuel Okoye had recognized the invaluable and cordial relationship with the State, Local Government and the host community, noting that the partnership was built on mutual respect, open dialogue and shared commitments to economic growth and prosperity.

 

He then commended His Excellency Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori for his exceptional commitment to economic growth in the State.

 

"We thank you, for your trade policies reflect a rare understanding that entrepreneurs are not merely taxpayers, but are partners in progress," he had said.

 

He also commended the host community, indigenous and leaders of Okuodiete community for their magnanimity and reception.

 

The Association's emergence since 2001was to protect the business and interest of traders of Nd'Igbo extraction from undue harassment, excessive taxation and to contribute to the development of the host communities.

 

In attendance were the Commissioner for economic planning, Hon. Sonny Ekedeayen; Hon. Barr. Dafe Emakpo, Member Delta State House of Assembly; Hon. Chief Onoriode Ofoni, Chairman Uvwie Local Government Area; Rt. Hon. Ben Etanabene, House of Representative Member, Okpe, Sapele and Uvwie constituency; Hon. Andrew Agagbo, Vice Chairman, Uvwie Local Government Area; Hon. Collins Ighrakpata, Supervisor for Environment, Uvwie Local Government Area; High Chief Ikechukwu Nwokolo and Professor Akpovughaye Taiga amongst others.
