Kogi State House of Assembly Passes Two Bills into Law After Detailed Review


Kogi State House of Assembly has passed two Important bills into law after thorough consideration, deliberation, and clause-by-clause review by members of the House sitting as a Committee of the Whole.

 

The bills include a Bill for a Law to Repeal the Kogi State Fire and Rescue Agency Law, 2007 and Enact the Kogi State Fire and Rescue Law and Other Matters Connected Therewith, and a Bill for a Law to Provide for the Prevention and Control of Public Littering and the Defacement of Public and Private Places were subjected to detailed review to ensure their effectiveness and relevance to the people of the state.

 

During the Committee of the Whole proceedings, lawmakers carefully examined each clause of the bills, reviewing their provisions and making necessary observations and amendments where required to strengthen the Bills.

 

The proposed Kogi State Fire and Rescue Law is aimed at providing a more effective legal framework for the operations, management, and regulation of fire and rescue services in Kogi state, while ensuring improved emergency response and better protection of lives and property.

 

The second bill, which focuses on the prevention and control of public littering and the defacement of public and private places, seeks to promote environmental responsibility, maintain cleanliness, protect public infrastructure, and discourage activities that negatively affect the appearance and sanitation of communities across the state.

 

Our Kogi State Correspondent, reports that the Lawmakers emphasized the importance of having strong laws that address emerging Issues abd challenges and provide practical solutions to issues affecting residents of Kogi State.

 

The Speaker of the House RT Hon Umar Aliyu commended members for their commitment and dedication in ensuring that the bills were properly considered in line with legislative procedures. He noted that the Assembly remains committed to passing laws that support development, improve public safety, and enhance the quality of life of citizens of kogi state.

 

After the successful completion of the clause-by-clause consideration and review of the bills, the House proceeded to the final stage of the legislative process.

 

The Kogi State House of Assembly thereafter passed the two bills into law.
