Dr. Andrew Omagbemi Igban, APC Candidate for the Delta State House of Assembly, Warri South West Constituency II, has expressed deep sorrow over the reported passing of former Governor of Delta State, Dr. Emmanuel Ewetan Uduaghan, describing his loss as a painful moment for his family, the political family, and the entire people of Delta State.
In a heartfelt tribute, Dr. Igban described the late former governor as a true Deltan, a statesman, and a public servant whose name will remain part of the political history of Delta State.
He noted that Dr. Uduaghan’s journey in public service was marked by several years of responsibility and leadership, having served as Commissioner for Health, Secretary to the State Government, and subsequently as Governor of Delta State for two terms.
According to Dr. Igban, the passing of a leader who occupied such significant positions in the state’s history is not merely a personal loss to his family but also a moment for Deltans to reflect on the responsibilities, sacrifices, and enduring impact of public service.
“Dr. Emmanuel Ewetan Uduaghan was more than a former governor; he was a son of Delta whose years in public service formed an important chapter in the political journey of our dear state. His passing is a painful reminder that, beyond political offices and titles, what ultimately remains is the legacy we leave behind and the lives we touch in the course of our service to humanity,” Dr. Igban stated.
He further noted that political differences should never overshadow the shared humanity that binds people together, stressing that moments of grief call for compassion, unity, and respect for the departed.
Dr. Igban extended his sincere condolences to the Uduaghan family, political associates, friends, and the entire Delta State community, praying that God grants them the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss.
He urged Deltans to remember the late former governor not only for the offices he occupied but also for his place in the state’s collective political history and the lessons his years of service offer to present and future generations of leaders.
“As we mourn the departure of Dr. Emmanuel Ewetan Uduaghan, may we be reminded that leadership is a responsibility, public service is a privilege, and a life devoted to the service of the people will always have a place in history,” he added.
Dr. Igban prayed that Almighty God grants the departed eternal rest and comforts all those mourning his loss.
May the soul of Dr. Emmanuel Ewetan Uduaghan rest in perfect peace.
