The Itsekiri National Youth Council, INYC, has dismissed any ownership claim of Ijaws in Warri South Local Government Area, urging the management of Chevron Nigeria Limited, CNL, to negotiate with Ifie-kporo community as it relates to Well 24 and Well 25, saying the Wells are in Ifie-kporo, an Itsekiri community.

Chairman of INYC, Warri South Chapter, Boluwa Jemine Obaghoro, who made the declaration Monday October 26, at the Police Area Command in Warri, said the Ijaws presently residing in Warri South, came from Bayelsa for fishing.

The Youth Public Relations Officer of Ifie-kporo, Andy Omagbemi Eyifouma, who also addressed newsmen at the Police Area Command, vowed that they will not allow Chevron Nigeria Limited, step an inch into Oil Wells 24 and 25.

According to him, the leadership of Ifie-kporo, has successfully registered the community’s case with all necessary government authorities, to prove that it was a peaceful protest they carried out at Ajanunu, which belongs to the Ifie-kporo people of Warri South.

“The government should tell Chevron to do the needful, we will not allow the Gbaramatu Ijaws, to grab our land, that place belongs to us”  Andy Omagbemi Eyifouma, asserted.
