PDP members’ scramble for appointment in Oshiomhole’s government leaves 2-time Commissioner in coma

Speculations that Governor Oshiomhole was to appoint political office holders from the rival PDP on Monday November 12 led to crisis at a meeting of the Edo South PDP where stakeholders were suppose to reach a compromise on their possible choice(s) for appointment(s).
Report says hell was let loose when a chieftain of the PDP, Omokaro Izevbigie and a two time commissioner was allegedly beaten to a state of coma following alleged clash of interests.

Our Benin City Correspondent reports that trouble started midway into the meeting held at the Iyekhogba palatial home of a former Deputy Governor and the Edo South PDP Senatorial Vice Chairman, Lucky Imansuen, when one Larry Ogieva, ex- Chairman of Edo State Oil and Gas Producing Areas Development Commission, EDSOGPADEC and his elder brother, Nosa allegedly got involved in a free for all fight as a result of conflicting interest over appointment slot.

A source at the meeting hinted Fresh Angle that the duo had insisted that the embattled party leader who was a two time commissioner in Governor Lucky Igbinedion’s administration lacked the locus standi to preside on the number of persons to get appointment for the expected slots.

Omokaro who was consequently rushed to the emergency unit and later transferred to the Orthopedic ward, Central Hospital in Benin City following several injury sustained during the alleged attack on him, said he was only trying to draw the attention of Nosa Ogieva to the insult poured on him by his younger brother when the ex- EDSOGPADEC boss came behind and unleashed terror on him. “He threatened to beat me, I thought he was joking and no sooner I stepped out when the meeting was over he started insulting me.  I tried to slap him but in less than a second and from no where the junior brother came and hit me by the head and I fell. I had a small black out, I hit my chest on iron, then my eyes were turning me and people rushed in to revive me. Part of their grievance is that I seem to be given support to those who wrote petition about embezzlement of fund by the chairman. I am a very honest person. I don’t support anybody who embezzles fund and so I don’t regret what has happened. I’m waiting for the party to investigate the matter”, he explained.

He added, “this is not the first time I have received public assault from them. In 2004, the same Nosa Ogieva also hit me but because people prevailed on me I had to go and treat myself”.

But in a swift reaction, the former EDSOGPADEC boss, Ogieva, denied lynching the ex- commissioner and accused him of assaulting his senior brother who is currently the Orhionmwon PDP chairman. He equally dismissed the allegation of financial misappropriation leveled against him.
