Rotary Club is not a charitable organization – District Governor

The2011/2012 District Governor of Rotary Club, Rotarian Olayinka Babalola saysRotary Club International is not a charitable organization, but a group ofprofessionals committed to the service of humanity.

RotaryOlayinka Babalola who is on tour of clubs within his district made thedeclaration Saturday September 10 in Warri during the Charter CertificatePresentation ceremony to the Rotary Club of Ubeji. While describing service toinclude the financial and professional commitment of members of the club,Rotarian Babalola noted that membership is strictly for well meaningindividuals who are dedicated to the development of society worldwide.

Earlierin a remark, President of Rotary Club of Warri, Rotarian Emmanuel Ogoru, notedthat apart from tackling flood and other natural disasters worldwide, theRotary Club International is in the forefront of global eradication of polio aswell as doing a lot in human capital development.

TheDistrict Governor’s Special Representative, Rotarian Lawrence Ukubeyinje whiletracing the history of Rotary Club Ubeji, called for the support and membershipof other stakeholders to assist the club in its much desired humanitarianservices.

Inan address, President of Rotary Club Ubeji, Rotarian Emmanuel Omasan Afinotan,noted that as part of the 2011/2012, the club has committed itself to theexecution of an eight room block of toilet facilities for the Ubeji SecondarySchool valued at N4milion,rehabilitation of the dilapidated water supply system to the Health Centre inUbeji as well as the provision of a generating set for the Health Centre asback up for PHCN power supply.

Highpointof the ceremony which was graced by prominent Rotarians including Chiefs IsaacJemide and Nelson Utienyione was the formal presentation of certificate to thePresident of Rotary Club Ubeji by the District Governor.
