Tragedy struck recently in Warri, Delta State when a middle aged woman identified simply as Miracle died with the baby she was expecting during delivery at an undisclosed private hospital.
A family source within the locality told Fresh Angle that the woman who was living at Nupe Street, off Hausa quarters was expecting her first baby in preparation of her traditional marriage ceremony with her fiancé who just secured a job in Bayelsa State when the unfortunate incident occurred.
The source added that Miracle’s fiancé only recently rented and furnished a 3 bedroom apartment at Akpologbe Street, opposite Hausa quarters, Warri in anticipation of the formal performing of traditional marriage rite with Miracle when the sad news struck.
When Our Senior Correspondent visited the residence of the deceased who was living with her aged mother in Nupe Street to ascertain if Miracle had any complication before going to the hospital for delivery, no one was willing to speak as a result of apparent shock.
A staff of Warri South West local government council only recently lost her life during delivery after many years of marriage without a child.
Incidences of maternal mortality have been on the rise in Sub-Saharan Africa despite orchestrated media campaigns by governments, claiming to check the ugly trend.
