In what can be described as a replica of the story of the biblical prodigal son, Omili Alagba, an indigene of Ojobo Community in Burutu local government area of Delta State has returned home to re-unite with his family after 6 years of disappearance.

Fresh Angle understands that the 24-year old Omili Alagba was last seen in 2006 when he disappeared from home while living with his father, a celestial church prophet in Warri, Delta State.

Efforts by the family to locate him were unsuccessful as he left no trace of his whereabouts to his family members and friends.

While some members of his family and friends concluded that he is dead, others expressed optimism that he would resurface someday. To his 40-year old mother, Ebisco Jonathan, it was a six long years of waiting in sorrow and misery as she could not ascertain whether her son was still alive.

Fresh Angle gathered that when the news of Omili’s sudden reappearance got to his mother via mobile phone, tears of joy rolled down her cheeks. She immediately rushed to Warri where Omili is with his father to give him a warm embrace.

Narrating his experience to Fresh Angle, Omili said he spent his first 4 years of disappearance in Lagos where he passed through the hard facts of life, searching for “gold” before he later went to Ekpoma in Edo State.

At Lagos, he continued, “life was difficult, I barely eat in a day. I go out every day for the daily hustling to survive but it was not successful”.

He added, “I thought I could make it in life without the supportive umbrella of my parents, but I was wrong. It was the greatest mistake I did as a child. Nothing worked for me in Lagos. A thought came into me to own up, but the thought of going back empty handed made me vow to stay on. I was in Lagos when God touched my life. I repented and became a born again. I bought a megaphone, which I used in preaching the gospel everyday”.

On why he abandoned his home, Omili, who is the first son of his parents said, “my parents having long divorced, life as a foster child is not easy in a broken home. I lacked that parental love and care required to grow up to become a psychologically and socially stable child. I was exposed to the vagaries of life and with the influence of peer group, I ran out of home. I rationalized my thoughts that I would return as a big boy, but I was wrong, everything I laid my hands on went crashing and I came back empty”.

Omili who was full of life, explained that having had four unsuccessful years in Lagos, he relocated to Ekpoma, Edo Sate where he became a choir master at the City of Kings Church. By which time, he had produced an unsuccessful album titled “Victory Praise”.

He added that it was at that point that his pastor, who he sees as a role model reminded him that the agony his disappearance inflicted on his parents may be haunting his progress and advised him to go back to his parents for forgiveness to enable him make any progress in life.

According to Omili, having failed in the music industry, he resorted to acquiring skills in wall and floor tiling. The decision to become a tiler, Omili explained was because every other thing failed him.

He pleaded with his parents, Ebisco Jonathan and Mathew Alagba now divorced to forgive him for the pains his disappearance caused them.

On their part, they thanked God for bringing their son back and told him that they were happy that he remembered home, just as they advised him to continue the work of God and desist from bad company.
