Gotv has launched the newest pay television service on the latest Digital Video Broadcast (DVB – T2) technology in Benin City amidst funfair and pageantry, Our Benin City Correspondent reports.
The General Manger of Gotv Nigeria, Mrs. Elizabeth Ampa during a press conference in Benin, said the new technology is from the stable of Multi-choice TV and offers the latest Digital Video Broadcast T2 standard technology which is better than the outmoded T1 system currently used by some television service in the digital migration process. “Gotv is uniquely placed to become the home of African television. There is enough rich content created in our African entertainment stations and foreign programs. She further explained that Gotv has two bouquet of local and international channels “we have a total of 34 channels for Gotv plus and has a subscription fee of N1,500 while the 26 channels Gotv bouquet is N1,000”.
The introductory offer for the Gotv package is N9,500 with a free antenna and 3months free subscription after which a subscriber could have the option to choose either Gotv plus or Gotv after enjoying Gotv plus subscription for 3months.
The press conference also saw the Assistant Director, Broadcast Content and Coordination, National Broadcasting Commission, NBC in the Benin Zone, Mrs. Gloria Makinde commending Gotv for the viable and beneficial contents in the two bouquets.
The NBC boss also stressed that as regulators and custodian of the Nigerian airwave, “we advice Gotv to continue to follow the law and anybody who have reservation about their programs can report to NBC”.
