The General Overseer of Living Faith Church aka Winners’ Chapel, Bishop David Oyedepo might be dragged to court if he fails to pay the two billion naira demanded by parents of one late Miss Princess Imiefan Omokaro who met her untimely death at kingdom Heritage Model School, managed by Winners’ Church in Benin City, Edo State.
It would be recalled that on November 1, 2012, Miss Imiefan, a K G 1 pupil of Kingdom Heritage Model School was found dead at a rubber drum purportedly used to clean the school toilet at a time the little girl should have been in the custody of her class teacher.
The class teacher (name withheld) in a brief interview said she left the class and the little girl later fell into a rubber drum used in the school toilet.
The police autopsy report conducted by Dr. Wilson Akhiwu contradicted the teacher’s claim, as it revealed that the young girl died of drowning from fresh water.
It was also learnt that the police doctor confirmed that the rubber drum the girl fell into was not enough to kill her because of the height.
According to a legal consultant employed by the bereaved parents, Barrister Peter Uwadiae-Igbinigie, several meetings called to peacefully address the issue was never attended by officials of the school nor the church, hence they are giving the school which is an arm of Winners’ chapel “a fourteen day ultimatum to pay the sum of N2billion naira as unquantifiable or general damages for the callous and senseless killing of my client’s daughter, Miss Imiefan Omokaro and that the school should tender unreserved apology in three national print media for the wanton and callous killing”.
All efforts by Our Benin City Correspondent to reach the General Overseer of Living Faith Church, Bishop Oyedepo were unsuccessful as at press time.
