The immediate past Speaker, Kogi State House of Assembly, Hon. Umar Ahmed Imam has called on members in the House to support his successor, Prince Mathew Kolawole.
Hon. Imam (APC Lokoja 1) made the call during the House Plenary Thursday August 17.
Recall that on August 3, 2017, Hon. Umar Ahmed Imam shockingly tendered his resignation letter before members of the House of Assembly a day after hoodlums invaded the Assembly complex.
While appreciating the entire House for their show of love and confidence reposed on him during his leadership, Imam urged the entire lawmakers to extend same to the new leadership.
“My stay as the Speaker of the Kogi State House of Assembly for one year, a week and a day cannot be complete without saying thank you to all the entire lawmakers, staff and Assembly Press Corp who cooperated with my leadership for me to succeed. The support that you have showed me, should be moved to the new leadership. We are all stakeholders, so all hands must be on deck to move the Assembly forward.”
He assured the new leadership of his support and wealth of experience in the discharge of their legislative business.
