The Kogi State House of Assembly has set up a seven-man committee to dialogue with Labour Union in the State to stop their proposed industrial action.
Our Kogi State Correspondent reports that the organized Labour in Kogi State had earlier issued a one-week ultimatum to the Kogi State Government to pay its workforce full salaries in order to further sustain the industrial peace and harmony in the State.
The Labour Unions comprising the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, Trade Union Congress, TUC and Public Service Joint Negotiating Council, PSJNC described the purported half salaries paid to workers by the Government as Sallah Gift, demanding for the full payment of July salary on or before Tuesday, September 12, 2017.
Observing that the one-week ultimatum had expired and letter served to the Kogi State House Assembly by labour leaders of their intention to go on strike, the member representing Idah constituency, Musa Idoko Haruna in his motion before the House said it will be disastrous if workers go on strike at this trying period of the nation’s economy.
The Speaker, Mathew Kolawole while setting up a seven-man committee to meet with labour leaders emphasized the need for industrial harmony between employers and its employees.
The seven-man committee are Hassan Abdullahi, Bello Abdullahi, Victor Omofaye, Linus Eneche, Oluwatoyin Lawal, Musa Idoko Haruna and Jimoh Omiata.
